This is ridiculous
Sight-keep it for obvious reasons
Hearing-Useful should come in handy
Touch-useful as hell to stay alive
Smell-you need a sense of smell to taste
Taste-screw it you have a sense of smell to compensate

I think I'd go for hearing, although I'd miss music it seems to be the one that would effect me the least if it suddenly went away since it's not as vital to my survival as touch or taste and not as vital to my daily life as sight or smell.

Definitely smell. Mainly because that sense is almost broken in me anyway but also because I enjoy music far too much and couldn't handle being blind. As for touch I'd end up getting some serious injury and bleeding to death or something since I couldn't feel it. Taste, well, would you really want to eat when absolutely everything is like munching cardboard?

My sense of smell is so pathetic already that I practically live without it now

It's really mostly between smell and Taste, those that say they'd give up touch have never had sex. I'd give up Taste. Just thinking of never being able to smell the morning air, the head of my baby just after he is born, a woman. I can't think of much more devastating.

taste, since half of what we taste is smell, i would only loose a little bit of the sense.

I kind of laugh when most people choose smell for this :p
It's true... when you lose smell, you lose most of your ability to taste anything. So, you'd effectively lose two senses...

Thermoception. The ability to tell temperatures. I would just carry around a small thermometer to compensate.

Seriously? Two people voted for sight? I can't help but think that they're out of their minds. :S

Assuming it wouldn't affect taste I'd go for smell I can barely smell anyway due to horrible allergies so I think it would be the one I missed the least

Question to the people saying that they lost or have a weakened sense of smell; can you still taste food?

As for the poll, being able to see, hear and touch are far too important to give up. I believe those are the three core senses needed to fully experience life.

My sympathies to people who are missing one or more of the above.

I've always wondered what it would be like living without the feeling of touch. You'd certainly have a high pain threshold.
The downside being that you could leave your hand on a hot stove and not realize...well until you smelt it :p

I'd go for taste; hearing, sight and touch are all obviously useful, but smell adds a quality to things that the others just can't. I think smell is the most under-appreciated sense, but while there are bad smells, good smells bring back the strongest memories.
i wouldnt want to loose touch, mostly because of sex, in addition to your point
