24X7X52=8736, that's the amount of hours in a year. Let's say the average game is about 6 hours long, ou'd have to play 1456 games from start to finish to occupy that time. But then again I'd spend the majority of that time playing RPGs and MAG.

Video Games only if I can choose games that have not yet been released, and I can heavily mod them before the beginning of the year. (I'm looking at you Skyrim) If not, find a friend and we can play magic for a year.

I wouldn't even consider anything but number 2.

Video games would easily get boring for a year. Heck, I'd get bored if I spent a whole day playing them. It's all about human interaction. Even if you or both went insane, at least you spent your insanity with someone instead of by yourself. "It's better to have been loved and have been lost, than to have never been loved at all."

Anyone picking the first option, need to find better ways to prioritize their lives. 1 year without social interaction? Think of the endless possibilities you could have with that one person (I'm not talking strictly sexual- though that would be nice too)!

I would go with "person", pick a hot celebrity or a hot chick I know. We're talking about a year of sex, you would walk out of that room with amazing sexual technique and a rocking body (sex+workout for a year, you'd walk out looking like Adonis).

PS: Can I have a window and a year long supply of cigarettes please? Pretty please?

A person of my choosing would be fucking pissed at me, and 1 year with eachother would drive both of us nuts.

Does the person in question have to be real? and do we have unlimited condoms? if no to either of those then I'm going with the games.

Well assuming the room is otherwise completely empty, I'd go with video games. A year with nothing to do, at all, AT ALL, but talk? Sure, I could maybe do a week, but there's only so many things a person can talk about before they run out, and I'd rather have a year of time that I can spend immersed in the best works of art and storytelling and everything that video games have to offer than sitting blankly in an empty room with a person and nothing else.

I'd probably end up going insane either way though, playing one game literally religiously for like 5 months.

A year with her would never disappoint. Also, is it just me, or does she have ridiculously manly-looking arms in that pic?

I'd probably get sick of the person eventually, and if i didn't, they'd probably get sick of me. Even if we didn't get sick of each other, we'd run out of things to talk about.

I could also get sick of a video game, but there is A LOT of videos games. There's also the severe damage to my eyes to be concerned about. Then after I get out, I'd probably be extremely socially impaired.

Wow, I've never been this stumped by a "hypothetical question thread".
Both of these options would completely suck donkey dick.
Fuck it. Suicide.

Video games. As much as I love my friends and family, I wouldn't want to spend a full year in a confined space with them, and I'm sure they'd feel the same. Even if you didn't get Cabin Fever and rip each other to shreds, even if you never ran out of things to talk about, you'd eventually come to resent them just by virtue of being around them 24/7, and why would I ruin a perfectly good friendship?

Yeah, video games, and anyone who says otherwise hasn't really thought this through.

I prefer the games. Being with someone for else for so long may lead to murder. Plus I've got all the time in the world for RPG sidequests and such.

You have been selected to spend an entire year locked in a room, with no way out. When you are in the room, time will not pass in the outside world, you will not need food, water or any other things that you would normally need.

However, you do get to make one decision. You can take with you:
1) Every video game ever made (supplied to you upon request), and all the platforms to play them on, but you can't play online or have internet access.

OR

2) A person. Any person of your choosing, or have a random person selected from off the street, if you prefer. The person you have selected will not know you have chosen them, and think they are in there through luck.

You have 365 days worth of time to kill. Which do you pick?

NEW RULE: Time would not pass in the room, so the other person wouldn't actually lose any time from being in there with you, and could opt to forget the experience after it's over and become the person they were before it happened. This has been added because some posts seem to be concerning morality in regards ti choosing the second option. Although, even with this rule, it still could be seen as a cruel thing to do.
Besides what/who we take with us, what is in the room?

You say we don't need food/sleep etc so they're out, but what else is in there, is it completely empty?

The quality of my social life is quite poor, and my social skills are deplorable to say the least, so I'd be better off with the video games.

At least if I beat a long string of video games, I'll feel as if I've accomplished something, opposed to "building a meaningful relationship" with some poor soul.

I would absolutely not bring a person. Regardless of who it is, you won't ever see that person again afterwards.

I'd bring my cat along if allowed but anyone sane won't bring anything living unless regular distraction is assured.

Edit: This is'nt for my own sake or meant strictly as a personal choice either. If you bring another person, make sure it's someone you sincerely hate.
