Simple answer: Like other people have said, I'd go to the future to find out the winning lotto numbers, then go back to the present and get a winning ticket.

Heck, if The Doctor did it for Donna, I can do it for myself. As I've said about similar situations, it wouldn't be totally selfish of me, as I would use a good bit of the money to donate to charities.

Complicated answer: I would go into the future at several different points to spy on myself to see how my life was going. If I saw any thing I didn't like, I would find out how the problems came to pass, then go back to the present and figure out how to avoid the problem. Granted that all the problems I have in the present would be solved by the money from my simple answer.

1. every time you leap forward/backwords, you can only leap back from there to the exact same place and time.
Seeing as the earth would have changed position I'd simply die unless when I go back I return to exactly where I was in which case scramble for the device to take me home and never touch it again.

Lottery, moneys ect ect...

However, I would go back, and witness my own birth. Just to give myself a complex, and screw myself up psycologically. :p

Quite simple really-

1 Look up at the past lottery numbers.

2 Pick a date and travel to a week before that date.

3 Hand my past self the written lotto numbers.

Now the only thing I got to worry about from changing my past is either-

When I get back to my present, the new and alter memeories will flow into my head or not.

If the above does not happen I will not know all the new changes I created for altering my past.

Somehow made my present day worse (maybe being rich left me with no friends).

Seriously I know when and where to change my specific past as one time the lotto numbers were within the 20's numbers and I was unemployed at that time!

Collect historical works from all the ancient cultures that we just don't have, starting with the Greeks, but then moving on.

Head back to the lifetime of folks like Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, to see how much is accurate.

A lot of this, of course, relies on my ability to learn the relevant languages (if I can bring folks along, I'd just bring a translator) and survive any diseases that might be kicking around. Getting smallpox would suck.

Another option, of course, would be head to the future, take advantage of all technological advancements there, hopefully extending my life by preposterous amounts, then bringing a bunch of it back to improve stuff. Whether it would be a good idea, I dunno.

Note: The terms of time travel seem to contradict the polls. Rule 2 says you can't change the fate of anyone. The poll options 'change a major event' and 'perform justice' seem to contradict this.

Go to the future, bring back all their knowledge and technology and then give it to the British Government so they can rules the world.

Watch the moon landings live. No interference, not even a wave. Just standing by and watching some of the coolest events in history.

What, you mean on TV? Why not watch it in person on the moon itself? Maybe sticking your head over a nearby crater to watch history in the making?

I would go back a few years ago, when my local lottery was at $250 million, and win it. And then spend it trying to make the world a better place. I would also give an anonymous donation to my family. (Since, I'm guessing the past me/family still exists and whatnot.)

Other than that I would probably go to a bunch of concerts and really see the world, since money is the only real reason I don't travel anymore.

I'd be cautious about going back too far (If I can't travel back to the present, that is.) Since the quality of life was MUCH different before the internet. I would be bored to the point that I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

If interacting with past me isn't out ruled, I would probably mentor my younger self to be more like me now. In school I used to be the loner that never talked to anyone because I was way too shy for my own good. Now, I'm still shy, but I warm up to people a lot easier than I did when I was in middle/high school. I'm trying to think of an analogy that doesn't involve ponies... CURSE YOU YOUNGER ME FOR BEING A HUMAN/MALE VERSION OF FLUTTERSHY!!!!!

Win the lottery.

It's boring and selfish but it probably does the most good for myself and those around me for future generations.

I'd likely live off about 2 million of it in my lifetime and give the remaining hundreds if millions away slowly over the course of my life.

I'd go back in time to when JFK got shot, stand behind the grassy Knoll and shout "Duck!"
Ah, Kryten. :)

OT: How definite is the "no life-saving rule". If I let down the tyres on the Enola Gay, how do 80,000 people just drop dead regardless?

1) Go back in time with electric guitar & amp.

2) Disguise as a minstrel

3) MELT SOME ROYAL FACES WITH METAL

4) Probably get beheaded or burned or something equally horrible.

Oh yes.

In a museum 2012: The royal loved iron maiden, the mistral had the honour of being the namesake for the torture device.

So many things to do if I could travel in time.

Travel to the future to take advantage of improvements in healthcare and hopefully extend my life indefinitely. Bring back information on future major events that I should avoid (natural disasters, terrorist attacks etc) and information that I can use to make a financial killing.

In fact I might just move to the future and make it my permananet home base.

Then it's time for some travel to the past with the best recording devices I can get hold of.
Record the dinosaurs, the wonders of the ancient world, the lives of major historical figures, see if Jesus really was what the bible says he was.

Make footage of historical events like the Hindenburg, Titanic, D-Day landings, Krakatoa, Pompei, the Tunguska explosion.

Find out the answers to great mysteries, Did Lee harvey Oswald act alone? what happened on the Mary Celeste?

And lastly and most importantly, watch and record the original broadcasts of all the missing Doctor Who episodes (what a perfect use for time travel).
