In no particular order, goodbye to:

1) My history teacher

2) The Westboro Baptist Church

3) Whoever designed this abomination [http://serebii.net/pokedex-bw/594.shtml]

4) Various assorted douchebags I attend school with

5) F. Scott Fitzgerald. Yes, I'm aware he's already dead. I don't care. He knows what he did.

I noticed that a few people would test it then toss it. If I remember correctly if you use it even once you won't go to heaven or hell, so you might as well keep using it.

OT: I would use it for sure, got a few people in mind right now. It's the ultimate weapon and since whatever you write happens, you can get away with ever single murder by making it seem natural or blame others (2 birds with one stone). =)

Kill it with fire. Not a single scrap must remain. Damnation aside, you simply can't predict what the effect of deaths will be nor that your information about your targets is accurate. While careful use might be able to improve the world no sane person should want so big a responsibility, and anyone who did would likely be just the sort of megalomaniac who shouldn't have it. The potential for abuse and tyranny is just too high.

As for whether you would get caught, I suspect you could probably manage it with convincing circumstances and infrequent times of death.

Another possibility would be to control people and have them give out information/resources, e.g. have a dictator give evidence of his contacts or a businessman give his fortune to charity.

Maybe I'm just shying away from the responsibility of making these decisions and wasting a great opportunity to improve the world, but I don't think I would trust myself or anyone else with this power.

While I would love to say that I would give it up/burn it, I don't think I am that nice of a person. I'd keep it indefinitely. I actually already have one. I bought it at Otakon a few years ago, so it's not like anyone would know. 8)

Get the eyes but never use it. I would like to see people's names, and when they will die/ how they will die. It would make conversations so much more interesting.

Wait for the owner and return it. If they have lost it I would happly return it and lose memories of it. If they are like Ryuk looking for fun and to mess about with human lives I would keep it ensuring him I would use it for entertaining means in the future, mean while thinking of a method to get out of it without harming innocents or getting killed me Ryuk for destroying it or keeping it too long, this is how I judge his character at least.

If I can't think of anything in time I would destroy it, likely die, but I would save Ryuk from messing with innocent lives.

I've always been more of a L then a Light :/

Keep it, don't use it. Though, it's not as if I need it. The book has no power that can ever compare to me. :/

If I wanted to use the book for it's intended purpose, I don't have to. My wrath leaves no wake. (O_O)

Justin Bieber and Will Farrel, after that I might consider walking around town and introducing myself to people randomly to see if they lie when they tell me their name.

I wouldn't rid the world of all sin, since a perfect world is my idea of hell, but I would change things with it that really need changing. Corrupted governments and what not.

Having something like a death note would more incline a person to believe in heaven and hell. Then you have to consider one of the more unsettling repercussions of using a death note, which is denial of access to either after you die. It wouldn't be worth it.

I would do one of two things. Put down "Government" or "Death Note" just to fuck up the universe.
