I find it amazing how many people just plain don't understand that as a country we just don't have enough money to fund things like this. I was watching a panel show a few weeks ago where a Tory spokesman just bluntly said 'we're broke, we can't just pull money out of our arse because it'd be nice'. Well, words to that effect.
We've got jobs in the UK asking for degrees they plain don't need. They're going to stop doing that because there won't be graduates there wanting those jobs. that'll be good for young people and good for graduates, you won't have to pay for a degree you don't really need and those with a degree will have less competition.
OT: You'll never be asked to pay it all up front so go for it if you're interested, they've even raised the minimum payment level so if you're really poor you may never even need to pay it back.
