Mine is a self built eclectic collection of old and new parts spanning many generations of hardware and previous builds alike.
Let's see how much of this shit I can actually remember...
CPU - AMD Phenom 9550. 2.2GHz quad core, the "50" on the end indicates the TLB bug has been fixed on this model.
Mobo - Asus M3N78 Pro. On board video is the GeForce 8300, apparently nicked from the laptop graphics line. Not exactly top of the line, but almost good enough for Portal.
Memory - 2 GB Kingston HyperX. Dual channel, DDR2 800, low latency, all that good stuff.
Case - Cooler Master Centurion 590. Provisions for 8 120mm fans. That would make it quite loud, but they're only hooked up all at once during those hot summer months.
Mouse - Logitech RX1000. Since my old ball mice started to die off, I finally jumped to laser earlier this year. Finding no-frills mice is hard, let alone semi-stylish no frills mice, but all I require is two buttons and a wheel, and that's (almost) what I found.
Sound - Hilariously out of date Creative Sound Blaster Live! (yes, the ! is part of the name) 5.1 surround sound card. Hailing from the days when surround sound was new to computers, I don't know why I keep it around, what with surround being built in in most cases, but I do.
Up to here, this describes both my computer and my mother's (simultaneous upgrades... that was a terrible idea). Here, I differentiate.
HDD - Mine - 250 GB Seagate 7200.10. Nothing special about that. Also included is a 15 GB Western Digital that dates back to my Compaq days (1998, roughly). That was my main Windows drive until... September 1st this year, it seems, when it broke for some reason, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
- hers - 80 GB Seagate 7200.7, possibly 7200.8. At the time, that was huge.
Graphics - mine - A first day release XFX 8800 GT 512 MB.
- hers - Once my old 7800 GT broke a fan blade, the onboard 8300 came into play. As I said, almost good enough for Portal, and at a not-too-shabby 1024*768 to boot.
Monitor - mine - IBM P275. 21" of flat screen CRT goodness. Runs up to 2048*1536 (take that 1080p!), and weighs in at almost 90 pounds. Needless to say, it's not going anywhere any time soon.
- hers - a 22" Acer P223W widescreen. Only runs to 1680*1050, but it's more than enough for her purposes of not gaming.
Speakers - mine - Sound Blaster 5300 series 5.1 surround sound. These come from the same days as the Live! 5.1. More powerful, better speakers exist now, and some day I might care, but these serve me well.
- hers - Generic Radioshack stereo computer speakers. Dating from even before the 5300 series listed above, all I can say is "they work".
Keyboard - mine - Compaq internet keyboard. Hailing from the same time as my 15 GB WD HHD, my SB Live! 5.1, and my 5300 speakers, I actually game with this thing, and have yet to find a suitable replacement.
- hers - Packard Bell keyboard. Dating from her last actual computer purchase, a Pentium I running Windows 95 OSR1. Those were the days.
Operating system - mine - Windows XP Pro SP3. With 7 due out next year (in theory), I'm just going to pass on Vista.
- hers - Windows XP Home SP3. Essentially no difference there.
Most of my previous builds are in good working order (or in need of easily obtainable parts). Even my old P III era 600 MHz (later 766 MHz, my first upgrade) Celeron Compaq still fired up the last time I put it back together, so if you're looking for old parts (I can't imagine why), I'm the one to call.
On that note, the GeForce FX 5800 wasn't all that loud, and it ran games perfectly fine.
