My hard drive disk is only 640 GB. My quad core processor, SLI video cards, and 8 GB of ram can handle everything else though.

I'm not too sure on how reliable canyourunit is.
I don't like CanYouRunIt? because it doesn't take into account what graphical quality settings or screen resolution you're planning to play the game with. Not to mention "Recommended" can mean a whole bunch of different levels of performance depending on the game. Sometimes the recommended settings means, "You'll scrape by at medium settings." Or recommended could mean, "This'll run smooth as butter on CRAZY HIGH MAXED settings." Or it could mean anything else.

Maybe I'm wrong about all this? Anyone know better than I? It's likely someone here does.

Probably my RAM. 4GB seems alright for most stuff, but the clock speed's top end is 1333mhz (Overclocked, taking stability into account. Anything higher and it bluescreens after a while). RAM's fairly cheap though so I might switch over for 3x2gb.

CPU's speed could be higher but it does its job well enough.

I'm not sure what you mean by HD memory. Like the space on my harddrive? I have 3 gigs so it's not that, but my harddrive is the weakest piece so I voted that anyway.

My hardrive is the weakest link because it's only 7200rpm and makes my boot times on my monster of a pc too slow. But, once I put a ssd in I think my pc can handle anything.
yeah, that's what I meant. what's a better term for it? HD capacity?
I would call it hard drive transfer rate, but just putting hard drive would make sense in context with this question.

Edit: Wow I read your question wrong. Yea hard drive space would make the most sense. Memory normally means ram which is why it was confusing.
Alright, I changed it, thanks

edit: actually, I'll just change it to hard drive, I guess. makes it more general

Actually.. the weakest link I have is not the hard drive capacity. 500 is more than enough for me, considering I can exist on 80gb. No, the problem my hard drive has is that its a 7200 rpm drive. Which on performance index, that speed still takes a hit for some reason.

My ram could stand to be improved on latency, Also, It would be nice to migrate over to 64bit Win7 instead of 32 as I am sitting on 8gb of ram plus a 1gb video card on a 32bit system

The Hard Drive.

It's a 2GB 7500rpm HD.

I've been planning to upgrade to a 120GB SSD and a 600GB Velociraptor 10000rpm Drive.

SSD for OS and essential programs and the Velociraptor for games.
The old drive will be used for storage.

The desktop I use has a big heat problem. All the parts are okay except the power supply, but it works. What doesn't work is that it gets so hot that it'll shut down due to overheating when used for long stretches.

My laptop is good too, but could use a RAM upgrade. It's only at 4 gigs at the moment.

Why would you put that much RAM into a system that cannot use it?

I keep forgetting to double check that the heat vent on my laptop isn't blocked when either i leave it unattended for something or if im focused on a game, and as such i've let this damn thing overheat a couple of times in the middle of lol games, or when i went to check on food.

Definitely the motherboard. It almost always works fine on a cold start. But if I just shut it down (or if it crashed) then it isn't very likely to make it through the bootloader. This normally isn't a problem, because there's typically some time between when I shut off my computer to when I start it again. But it seems the crashes have been becoming more frequent, and it's really getting on my nerves.

Definitely my graphics card. It's a Radeon HD 6570, which manages to run almost everything I play on high/very high, but still can't run some games (like Just Cause 2 or Metro 2033) very well on anything higher than medium. Probably gonna upgrade that soon.
By comparison, my processor's a Phenom II 1055t x6 2.80ghz, and my ram's 8gb ddr3, which I don't think I'll need to upgrade for a while.

Ah, my laptop is pretty crap at this point. The battery lasts all of five minutes when unplugged. It begins to overheat after 20 minutes so now I use an external fan.

It has trouble running almost every game I play on it with the exception of Spelunky. Most of my Touhou games run at roughly 62 FPS, which is okay. Touhou 8 sometimes refuses to play higher than 30 FPS on some days and Touhou 10 seems to be frozen at 30 FPS forever at this point. 12.5 now refuses to play higher than 40-50 FPS. They all used to be fine. MapleStory randomly disconnects me every 20-30 minutes and every 5-10 minutes the screen blacks out for a few seconds. The black out problem also applies to Touhou 10.5 and 12.3. At this point, I always assume that it can't run any game worth playing.

God it'd be easier to list the things that are right with it.
I've got 2gig or RAM which sucks, a massively outdated graphics card, only 150gb of HDD space, etc, etc.

And that''s not even counting all the viruses and crap I found today with the help of a Microsoft tech support lady.

But without a doubt, the most condemning factor about it is that it's running vista.

God help us. God help us all.

only thing wrong with my pc is the marvel controller, it cant handle my sata 3 raid of vertex 3 drives at max transfer rate, i need the next chip-set to launch or a very expensive pci add-in card which i am not prepared to buy at it's current price :p

so 6 months down the line i wont have a bottleneck, except i will but somewhere else ^^
there's always a bottleneck! get used to it :)

Heat sink/fans/cooling system.
My laptop has tons of good ram, a insanely powerful processor, a state of the art graphics card, a fast, fairly large hard drive, and the best OS currently available.

It overheats when I try to play ANY game on it. I have one of those extra fan units you put underneath (and plug into the USB) which helps, but basically if I try to use my Processor, Ram, or graphics card at full capacity, it overheats everything.

I only have 1.7 gigs of RAM, meaning anything more complex than TF2 will chug like a mofo.
