I don't think my father's political views shaped my voting in any way shape or form. Its quite funny because until about 2 years ago, I never talked politics much with him, and he never brought it up to me. I would say I vote with my own voice and thoughts but I do hear echoes of my Grandfather, whom I would watch TV with when I was young and he was alive... The man would rage at CNN on a daily basis, and most likely would be writing Congress with a fury and passion daily...
I have a huge respect for my Grandfather due to his being a self-made man, putting himself through college twice, both Stanford and Alabama respectively, making Lt. Col in the Air Force and serving in WWII and Korea respectively. And he also went back to school multiple times to re-educate himself on new things... Never balked at a chance to learn, never thought he knew it all and regularly beat the tar out of me at Chess. In fact I never beat him once... but I did learn a lot about thinking ahead, anticipation and losing with grace.
