There are a good number of games (mostly RPGs) that feature a mighty organization of the greatest badasses in the setting, to which all adventurers aspire to be part of (or may already be a part of at the beginning of the game).

Which of these groups do you think is the best? Would you want to join them?

I've got to say - since I was a kid and first saw Star Wars, I've wanted to be a Jedi Knight. It would be sooo cool to have a lightsaber.

The sith, then the Assassin's guild from AC/ACII. Both are badass.
And I'd be able to assassinate people in the 1400's with a lightsaber.

Hard to say I would say Spartan but that is very painful to go through. So I'd say Jedi Knights because well they are just so cool and badass.

The SAS in COD4.
Badass people with badass mustaches.

But from the list I would say the Spectres.

Mainly because you could do whatever the fuck you want, whenever the fuck you want.

I'm thinking Stalkers from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Those guys are ordinary men going into an irradiated, anomaly filled area loaded with mutated creatures.
that creature right there lurks in the swamps, can camoflague itself, and hunts by leaping on someone, picking them up, and carrying them away from their comrades to feed on them. If you have the balls to face something like that you sir are very badass.

"Assassin! He bumped a pedestrian, kill him!"

*csssh*

"SHIT!"

I pronounce this to be the best idea, ever.

The SPARTAN-IIs of Halo probably win this thread. Simply because they are trained from the age of six. No other group in that poll, or any that I can think of save the real Spartans, has ever done that. Not to mention the fact that SPARTAN-IIs are resistant to the Flood, which would wipe out every other badass faction out there, and have armour that allows them to connect directly through a neural lace to most computer systems. Add in the augmentations that make them the Halo equivalent of Wolverine, without the extending claws (rectified by stealing an energy sword) or the healing factor (rectified in the books with 'biofoam'), and the SPARTAN-IIs are the most badass group to exist.

Also, take the SPARTAN-Is like Sgt. Johnson into consideration. Johnson, as a Spartan, was still kicking rebel and Covenant ass well into his eighties. And the SPARTAN-IIIs were literally sent out on suicide missions to basically do maximum damage to the Covenant, to the point where it was solely down to them that the fleet was so small that ended up gathering at the Unyielding Heirophant (true, Master Chief decimated them after that and thus managed to drastically reduce the enemy that attacked Earth in Halo 2, but if the SPARTAN-IIIs hadn't done their bit MC's job would have been literally a few hundred times more difficult...).

TL; DR: The SPARTANs kick major space ass...

You kids and your elite commandos, assassins, and magical superfolk. I belong to one of the oldest, most badass videogame organizations in existence.

Prepare for trouble.

Some good choices there. But they all have their flaws.

Brotherhood of Steel- I just don't think they can adapt. By this point in the series, they're not looking to healthy. Schisms and a lack of incoming resources are grinding them down to a fanatic core. Hell, if you play a certain way through the series you can ensure their extinction.

Jedi-The no-fraternization thing dooms them. It's basically saying "We don't trust you to control your emotions, so consider yourself neutered." It's the one thing I always thought was wrong with the Jedi. For one thing, they're forced to recruit. And since Lucas insists on making force affinity genetic, it means that it will never become concentrated if Jedi aren't breeding. People will always give in to biological urges, and this just forces them to become renegades. If Anikin could have been open about Padme, he wouldn't have had to confide in Palpatine.

Spectres- They are the best out of the offered choices, with the freedom they have. But as seen in the first game, that damn council can still hamstring the Spectres.

What about the evil organizations, like Talon Company or MJ12?

And as far as the STALKERS, they have a very high casualty rate and no centralized leadership.

I vote 47's Organization from Hitman, even if it is just him at this point.

Damn ninja...

I'm going to have to go with the Spectres. They're so badass that they have only accepted three people: Shepard, Nihlus, and Saren.

FUCK YES!
Actually those are just the only 3 spectres you ever see in the games...there are more of them.

Shepard only let them hamstring her because she didn't want to have to go all the way back up to the council chambers to [Right Hook] them and tell them what's what.

And yes, the Spectres win because they have Shepard and Blasto

Arachnos. Or the Combine. Or the Enclave. Or the Mythic Dawn.

....Anyone else getting a kind of deja vu from this thread?
