I liked Faramir when he went back to Gondor, and yes Aragorn is less Mary-sueish in the books, but I always preferred Boromir.

Gimli, Merry, Pippin, Faramir, Elrohir and Elladan are also my favourites for men, while Eowyn, Arwen and Galadriel are my favourites for women. I just realized how many women there are in LotR and it saddens me.
