I've played and enjoyed them all but TLC just wins out for me purely because
it allows you to kill the Guildmaster.Who's health is low now ************??

The first Fable by far. Maybe it's just the fact that it was my very first fantasy RPG but I found the game irresistibly charming. The sequels kind of ruined the franchise for me, they weren't that bad but they just didn't capture the charm that made me fall in love with the first one.

I haven't played the third game yet, so I do not know anything about that one, but... The second Fable game was my favorite of the two I plated. I played the second Fable game first and instantly enjoyed it. I then went back and bought the first Fable a little while latter (because I liked the second one so much), and thought the first game was complete and utter crap. Maybe I would have liked the first Fable more if I had bought it when it first came out and gave into all the hype, but I doubt it.

Fable TLC by far. For me personally it had a better setting, was more challenging, had armour and better looking weapons. I mean, I quite liked fable II and III but they hold nothing to TLC.

Fable: The Lost Chapters

Its so good! I never get bored when i've played through it 10+ times! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Fable III and Fable II had some good moments, but nothing can compare to The Lost Chapters!

I have played all of TLC and 3 but only the first level of 2. I hated 2, loved TLC and 3 was a lot of fun before the tedious parts were over.

Fable: The Lost Chapters by a landslide.

I hated how everything was dumbed down in Fable II. No mana bar? You can't die? A stupid dog finds all the treasure for you? Bullcrap!

I didn't even bother with Fable III, as it seems clear to me the series is just getting worse instead of better.

What if I prefer The DOS version from 1996 to all of Molyneux's efforts thus far? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.262809-Fable-DOS-Gems-No-2] Where is my poll option? :p

People always enjoy a good fable. M'aiq has yet to find one, though. Perhaps one day. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW1Xs9cFcWo]

2 or 3. I voted 2, in the end.

The humor is at it's best in 3, but the general gameplay peaked with 2 for me. I beat it multiple times.

3 still just has the one playthrough...

The Lost Chapters is easily my favorite. I hated the characters in the other two and the world just didn't have the same feel.

My only issue with The Lost Chapters is that they changed Jack's voice. He sounded sexy and roguish before, and I could see why the people of Albion might believe he wasn't a complete monster. Compare:

Old, skip to 50 seconds.

I was completely shielded from the hype that surrounded the first game. I never heard about how real the world would feel or the depth or anything so I just got the game as it was, so hence there was no dissapointment.
As it stands, I loved the first game immensly as a result. It was fun, had great combat (from my standards) a nice degree of customization, it was easy to get into and pick up and play and the quests felt deep and involving enough that I enjoyed playing them over and over again.

I never actually got to play The Lost Chapters but if I ever get a chance, I will. Because more of the original Fable I would like to see.

The others though... the ball kind of dropped. It played differently and it felt different and while the aesthetic was nice and original the gameplay and story aspect kept getting simplified and less involving the more I played it. To the point where eventually it got kind of silly.
I still enjoyed playing them and Fable 3 in particular I still quite like for all its considerable faults but still, the original remains the best. It's still the most solid game out of all of them and frankly, I'd like any future Fable game to go back and look at the design of the first game, not just copy paste how the mechanics, combat, menus and story modes worked for the sequels.

I haven't bothered with 3, so i suppose I can't draw from the widest possible well of experience

That being said, TLC wins without a doubt

The second one seemed too much like an attempt at an 'Albion-real-life-sim', and that is just not what I wanted at all.

Also, stupid dog is stupid.

I personally enjoyed all of them but prefer Fable 2 because... well... i dont actually know why but it really grew on me.(this is probably due to the inclusion of the halo 3 assault rifle[its in dlc])

Fable The Lost Chapters is the one for me, essentially Fable 1 + more content, and Fable 1 was the only good one.

I personally found the first fable to be hair-pullingly frustrating with its constant insisting that you escort whiny NPC #783 whose bones are made of paper.

I liked the second the best, as its combat system was smoothest, and I actually thought the story was entertaining. It still retained a fantasy feel to it (though I liked Fable I's atmosphere the best), as opposed to Fable III which didn't have much of a fantasy setting.
