You failed to provide Legion, and Mordin, despite the fact that they are the best, from both a gameplay, and character perspective.
Go hang your head in shame.
I mean you put Jack, Samara, and Jacob on the poll. Nobody likes them.
Also: Kaisumi and Zaeed are amazing, but they're DLC only, and you can't put the moves on Kaisumi.
I like Samara...

Sole Samara fan is FOREVER ALONE! ;_;

I play a vanguard so I use Garrus and Mordin on sniper duty. Also I just really like Garrus as a character.

As has already been made clear, this poll is useless without Mordin and Legion.
If I had to desert island it like you ask, it'd be Tali, but the game's about bigger company than that!

Let's see, Garrus for obvious reasons. He was there in the beginning so I'm glad to see his return.
As for the newbies, well, I love Mordin and Legion an awful lot. I'm also quite fond of the 'dream team' Jack & Grunt. I like them all in their own ways but these are my top five in Mass Effect 2.
Add Ashley and Wrex from Mass Effect 1 and then that's my top seven.

Miri is my de facto fave as a companion for a soldier Shep. She's a versatile support character and her evolved Cerberus Leader talent gives an extra 15% damage to squaddies (essential for Insanity, at least the way I play it). I take her along even to tech-infested areas, where a lot of people would go with a heavily tech-slanted squad.

In terms of her character, She's not my favorite by a long shot though. That title belongs to Legion, whose utility as a squadmate is also very solid on any level of difficulty.

Tali or Legion, tough choice between the two; but you only have Tali on there so....

I liked their characters, and they meshed great with the style of play I went with.

One's support, one's ranged, and I'm up front physically crushing a geth prime; good times.

Edit: I likely would have gone with Tali and Garrus, as in ME1 if not for the inclusion of Legion in ME2; I felt I owed Garrus a little leave time; plus getting the geth on my side couldn't hurt.

Yeah, this is how all the votes like this turn out. Tali and Garrus are about tied. Grunt is in a far third.

I voted Tali.

They are all awesome. Except Miranda. Jacob is like Kaiden, nice guy nothing wrong with him, but overshadowed by other more awesome characters. Tali tends to die a lot in my games, and her skills are next to useless to me, but I still love her. Special props to Mordin for being able to shoot fireballs out of his ipod

Well, seeing as there's no "Other option" and the two best characters are not on your list... I'm not sure it'd probably be Legion, but Kasumi is a close second.

Shepard: Hey, a poll!!

Garrus: Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

Shep: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Garrus: Ok, I'm done.

Shep: Srsly?

Garrus: No.

Shep: I should go.

Garrus: I'll be here if you need me.

In other words: Garrus. Sad that Legion wasnt included.

Grunt is the best, hands down.

I don't know why, but I seem to like characters that can kill me. Which is why Jack is my second favorite.

Samara, but saying she was my "favourite" doesnt say much. The characters in ME2 are so poorly developed, isolated and essentially little more than an "objective" that I cant say I felt the same connection as I did the ME1 squad. Remember them, the squad that acknowledged eachtothers existence on more than just a few scant occasions, and - shock, horror - actually talked to eachother.

Part of one of the reasons why I liked Samara a lot was because she was one of the main contributors to the game where it wasnt just about moving from cover to cover mowing down hordes of mooks, which is pretty much the rest of the entire game.

I kind of see where you are coming from if you are referring to the lack of elevator talks and I do seriously miss those. Dragon Age: Origins had that kind of banter pinned down to a fine art. However, to say that the characters are poor developed... Sorry, but no. Did you ever actually take the time to talk to any of them? Mass Effect 2 has some of the greatest characters in any video game to date and all of the good characters from the first game are still about (providing you weren't a dick on Virmire) and the two rubbish characters from the first one are hardly in it which is a massive bonus.

Anway... this is a bloody hard choice. As a character, Legion or Mordin are just the best but me and Garrus, we're bros. He's my wingman, I take him with me everywhere and after Mass Effect 1.... Well, you know, we have a history of broship. I know I can trust him to take all of the bullets and lie in a pool of his own bloody so that I don't have to.

i thought samara was alright

i don't understand why so few people have voted for thane, he was such a badass... is there a limit too how many poll options you can have perhaps?

mordin was such a dick about the whole genophage thing i really couldn't like him... his sex talk and singing were hilarious though

from a pure gameplay perspective, thane, legion and myself as an infiltrator basically meant that no enemy ever got within 100 feet of us, especially once legion got the widowmaker upgrade

Garrus - Snipering is so awesome, and I believe Garrus is an Infiltrator class as well, I'm addicted to snipering and can really only enjoy the pistols otherwise, shotgun is ok, but going from sniper is a bit of a drag, and an assult rifle, well I haven't tried all of them, but the first two I didn't like much.

Wow... every character I actually like you don't have on the poll. Except Samara; I like the older, slow-talking, mentor-type characters (Samara, Wynne, Jolee, etc).

But since you're asking, I'll take Legion, Zaeed, and Kasumi any day.
