Had to go with the metal and hard rock category but that only beats the rock and alternative one by an infinitesimal amount.

Not answering this poll. I see no reason to pick one genre as a favourite, I like lots of music in many different forms. I used to listen to metal predominantly but I've since moved outward in all directions. AS a result I probably still have more metal related music than any other one genre but I don't enjoy it more than any other really.

Mostly alternative/indie/rock stuff. I like a lot of things, but that's the large majority.

Psychedelic Rock. It's amazing, creative, and genius! Without it, music would have stayed in the safe Rock/Pop and Folk ways, and there wouldn't be any Heavy Metals, Alternative Rock, or Electronic Music.

Gonna go with classical on this one.

I grew up with the stuff, so it can't be helped.

I primarily listen to whatever I feel like, but I've been listening to a lot of punk-type stuff lately, though I do really like Iron Maiden and other such bands.
I just discovered The Ramones, as well as realizing how good Puffy AmiYumi is (They did the Teen Titans theme).

Surprised that metal is not winning yet, even with so few votes. The Escapist has a disproportionately large amount of metal fans, because of some bizarre genre connection.

I can't believe you are not rebelling against the norm like everyone else.

I had to go with Alternative because it's Punk and Ska for me. Although I don't like using the term "alternative" because it's such a broad term that encompasses too many different types of music to really define anything. Punk and Ska are too very linked genre's of music, but they're very very different to Metal and indie and don't deserve to be lumped in together. Then Punk is one of the most diverse genres of music there is, you've got Anarcho-punk, Celtic punk, Street punk, Hardcore punk, Skate punk, Punk Rock, Ska punk, then you can go into how it's a way of thinking and a set of ideal's before it's music, rather than a way of life attached to the music, the music is attached to the way of life so the music can be almost anything so long as it matches the ideals.

Basically Punk's one the most complex, diverse, intelligent and powerful genre's music there is, it's a lot more than a bunch of thugs yelling anarchy as many people think, there are some damn smart punk rockers, Greg Graffin, the front man for Bad Religion (going for over 30 years) has a PHD in zoology and lectures life sciences at UCLA.

I picked Heavy metal/Hard rock, though in truth, I ain't much of a rock fan. Death metal would be favourite sub genre.

Punk Rock and Ska really. Which isn't on the list I see... well that's how we like it, underground scene and all that.
Though I listen to pretty much anything except, black metal (on principle that's it's retarded) 99% of classical music, or traditional Celtic choir singing type stuff. Once my mom hit 60 she just really started to only listen to what I would call 'church music' and native american drum beats type stuff.
I have no idea why.

Souuuul.

Also the others because I'm one of those terrible people who says, "Oh, I like a little bit of everything."

If your strokes were any broader you'd be using a roller.

I honestly cannot answer that. I have an extremely eclectic taste so I don't particularly favour any music genre, I like anything from ragga to rock to DnB and more.

My favourite band is Gorillaz, and their music has such variety.
