I can't really say which genre i'd favour over the rest, but the genres that stand out to me would have to include:

80's-90's Pop - I love old fashioned pop, unlike today's modern pop crap.
Folk Metal - Such a bizzare genre, but works so well :)
Rock - I've got a few bands in mind in this genre that i always love to listen to
Drum&Bass - I get such an adrenaline rush from this genre, Pendulum always does the trick ^.^
Jazz - Always helps for relaxation and stress relief :p got some great tunes out of this genre

Wow... no pre-1900 genres listed at all...

Baroque... followed by Classical, then rock, some weird strain of electronica and metal.

I couldn't pick.

I'm pretty open to all kinds of music, it depends on my mood. One day it can be Ska, the next Metal and then Dubstep followed by some classical.

I like a lot of different styles depending on my mood, but overall my favourite band is Daft Punk, so I'm going to say 'whatever Daft Punk is being classified as today'.

I'm mostly a Alternative Rock guy, but I have been known to dabble in Electronic quite a lot.

My favourite Rock Genre's

Shoegazing, Nu-Gaze, Blackgaze, Dream Pop, Jangle Pop, Noise Pop, Twee Pop, Trip-Rock, Slowcore/Sadcore, Grunge, Post-Rock, Post-Punk, Post-Hardcore, Riot Grrrl, Blues Rock, Baggy/Madchester, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Stoner Rock, Space Rock/Neo-Psychedelia.

I'm not a huge fan of Metal, and I hate New Wave, and Brit Pop, so, so much.

My favourite bands tend to fall under the "alternative rock" umbrella, particularly the alt-rock acts of the late 80's and the 90's. Seriously, music was just so damn good back then.

Hmm, that's difficult. It might be Progressive Metal, Post-Metal or Ambient. Or maybe Hip Hop. I don't know, I can't really choose a single one. I listen to everything.

I like how you put Heavy Metal and Hard Rock together. Means I don't have to choose between them, because I don't think I could.

No dance music? For shame! Well ok the type of dance music I like is House music. Also I guess Jpop is also my favourite eventhought I haven't heard any newest songs for a while now.

Classical, you can't beat a really good piece of classical music...

My American friends should be hugely proud of Samuel Barber, the American composer that has done some of the most complicated musical works ever.

Gonna go with classical on this one.

I grew up with the stuff, so it can't be helped.

I'll listen to just about any kind of music, but I have a strong preference for electronic. Techno, house, trance, industrial, chiptune; all of that sort of stuff. That may still leave a very broad set of styles to choose from (it's a long way from Anamanaguchi to Skinny Puppy, after all), but for some reason I just tend to love anything that replaces regular instruments with synthesizers.

Samuel Barber is probably my favorite contemporary composer.

Adagio for Strings is amazing.

Not answering this poll. I see no reason to pick one genre as a favourite, I like lots of music in many different forms. I used to listen to metal predominantly but I've since moved outward in all directions. AS a result I probably still have more metal related music than any other one genre but I don't enjoy it more than any other really.
I always think of these polls, since these threads crop up once a week or so, as more of a "Which genre do you listen to most frequently?" type of thing instead of "What's better?"

Thrash metal and Swedish trallpunk is what I listen to on a daily basis.
Not the widest range of options in the poll.

Where's the "all of the above" option?
Good music can be found in any genre if you look hard enough.

But out of the options given? Rock/Alternative. My first music love.

Adagio for Strings is amazing.
You know a composer is good when something like the word "Adagio" which is a tempo in music becomes synonymous with his name.

For Strings is pretty basic compared to his other works, I wish I could link you, but people don't upload his works to the internet.

Well I'm classically trained, I play the violin, and normally the word "Adagio" brings dread, but I love his works that are slow with an awesome build up. I know myself and a few other people in my orchestra have been trying to get our conductor to play some of his works, but I don't really know how expensive it is or how easy it is to get it.

Y U NO GIVE OPTION FOR MULTIPLE CHOICES?!

I like a lot of genres but if you were to generalize them to that point, I'll take Alt Rock.
