The only film I've seen Chuck Norris in is Enter the Dragon, a film where his character he gets his arse handed to him...why are there memes about him?

The guy's a walking meme. He has no-one to blame but himself. He chose to fight bears and drive out of the ground after giving himself a beer-bath!

I've got to say I'm still not getting it. In the first clip I saw a man pulling a constipation face while getting beaten up by bear. He doesn't kill the bear or put up a real fight.
In the second clip, Chuck has already been beaten up and is being buried alive. He's rescued by his kid sidekick and the only thing he does is hold his foot on the accelerator, which seems to pay off..

Bruce Lee, definitely. I mean, he just owns every scene he's in. And Enter The Dragon is one of my facourite martial arts films ever. I've seen some interviews with him, and he seems like a decent guy too.
Though, when it comes to entertainment, Jackie Chan's the guy to go to... I'm hard pushed to think of a film of his that I haven't enjoyed on some level (admittedly, I haven't watched lots of his films).
Tony Jaa deserves a mention too... Ong Bak is an amazing film.

I'm gonna have to say Jet Li. Seeing some interviews with him, he seems like a great guy. I've enjoyed just about every movie of his I've seen as well, especially Kiss of the Dragon and Unleashed

Bruce Lee - Having to slow your punches and kicks down, because you're too fast for the camera is just so badass.

My favorite real-life martial artist? Snake Blocker. He's a world-champion master with knives and US Marine Corps CQC trainer.

Everyone on the list is pretty badass, but I'll take the guy who can do backflips and parkour moves then pull 16-17 knives out from God-knows-where, and casually toss bulls-eyes with every single one of them. Actors have nothing on that. (Plus his name is Snake Blocker. How cool is that?)

I first heard about him on a tv show [http://www.spike.com/full-episodes/1yr312/deadliest-warrior-apache-vs-gladiator-season-1-ep-101].

Since I'm studying with one of the 3 people alive certified to teach Jeet Kune Do through Bruce Lee's lineage, it would be remiss of me not to go with The Dragon himself.

Donnie Yen for traditional awesomeness. Tony Jaa for the stunt-crazy. Jeeja Yanin because damn it there needs to be a girl in there and she might be a foot and half shorter than me but i'm pretty sure she could hand me my ass. She's one to keep an eye on, i predict her breaking into american/european mainstream in a few years.

How on earth can you be "certified" to teach Jeet Kune Do? It's a philosophy not a style. The style is 'whatever works best; be flexible" it has no particular moves or anything.

I sense a fib.

So, due to the Bruce Lee being an option, I assume dead ones count. Johannes Lichtenauer, easily. You didn't specify asain martial arts.

Bas Rutten
Great Shootfighter
Loved his matches against Masakatsu Funaki
Love the Body Action System. It's much better than any punching bag
Just really hard to hate the guy, especially his accent.

Eeh, I phrased that badly. I apologize. What I meant is that my Sifu was trained by Dan Inosanto, who was Bruce Lee's protege. Guro Inosanto was one of 3 people who Bruce Lee gave his blessing to teach his particular blend (for want of a better word) of JKD, and my Sifu was granted the same status by Guro Inosanto (this is coming from Inosanto himself, he comes to give seminars and classes at my school sometimes).

It's definitely not taught to us as a single discipline. We learn boxing, Muay Thai, Kali, Silat, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and other styles, then we begin blending them together as we ascend the belt levels.

Bruce Lee for outstanding achievement in real-life badassery, Tony Jaa for the best, most awesomely violent martial arts movies ever made. Judging by Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong he must have spent maybe one fifth the time on storyline that he did coming up with totally awesome places and ways to kill people with Muay Thai.

For my money, it has to be Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. I don't know about you guys, but I don't know many 79 year olds capable of hurling guys twice his weight around all day.

Bruce Lee was a once in a lifetime blend of charism, intelligence, and skill. He will always be the greatest in my eyes.

Since he founded the form of karate I learn, Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate, I have no choice but to go with Chojun Miyagi! True epicness:

JCVD, of course. I'd have selected him in the poll, but I had to go 'other' just to include Bas Rutten:

That's not martial arts, Bas, that's just being an incredibly ferocious gigantic bear of a person!
