All the WOW soundtracks... I know its a popular game to knock, but the music is epic in a good way,can really give you a heroic feel.

I never got why Nintendo never made an album with orchestrated music from the Zelda games.
I would buy it.

It's common practice in Japan to do just that, not just with Zelda. Youtube it.

If we're going for any song in a game, it's a tie between Pollyanna [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Fc2H7jvQM] from the Mother series, Molgera [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBxSG_0o-WY] from Wind Waker and Unfounded Revenge/Smashing Song of Praise [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqTsXETOJBI] from Mother 3, as seen in Brawl.

If we're going for actual game main themes, then it's EarthBound's Smiles and Tears [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwHZwvTdnPI].

Also deserving of special mention are Together We Ride [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us55r61R3qo] from Fire Emblem and Lucca's Theme [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1YKC8cNXR8] from Chrono Trigger. For reference, every time someone does something especially awesome (known as a Crowning Moment of Awesome), their theme music plays. Lucca's Theme is so awesome that when it plays, the whole party has a Crowning Moment.

Someone stop me before I list my entire iTunes library. What I will say is that not one of those listed in the poll come close to my favourite.

I'm sorry, but I can't condone anyone choosing Mad World and saying it was made for Gears... that version of the song was made for Donnie Darko, and the original version was Tears for Fears. (Don't listen to the original! It hurts the ears!)

Anyways, I'd say my favorite video game themes would be ties between the theme of Halo, the theme of Chrono Trigger, and the end credits to Mass Effect. Take Me Home (the Prey end theme), the theme of TES4: Oblivion and the entire soundtrack to Super Mario Galaxy get honorable mention, too.
