The title says it all, what is your favourite year in gaming?

For whatever reason it may be, the number of classics, the best personal memories, which year is your favourite in gaming?

2001 for one reason and one reason only the North American release of Final Fantasy X, the first Final Fantasy I played and more than that, the first RPG I ever played. Been in the love with all sub-genres of RPGs ever since.

Honestly, I'd say this year. There has just been a bigger quantity of games that I've enjoyed more than pretty much any other year in memory.

1947. The year of the first video game. Also the year of the undisputed best video game for several years.

1998! The best year for gaming there was! Really though, the 90s had a lot of awesome games. It has sort of gone downhill since 2003 or so.
My friend and I sat down once and added up how many quality games were released per year since we started gaming, and the gigantic drop off after I think it was...2003 or 2004, is huge. Of course, its all opinion.

Probably this year to be honest. There has been some truly epic games released this year, not to mention my new favourite game of all time.

2011 is becoming my favorite, but as of right now 2008 is my favorite. It's the year that I personally started getting into gaming on a big level. Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, LittleBigPlanet, Left 4 Dead, GTAIV, Saints Row 2, Pokemon Platinum... It was a good year, in my opinion. But this year has a ton of great games as well. I'll have to see when this year ends.
