Starcraft 2 for lack of anything truly great.

SC2 has the highest production values of the whole bunch, but more importantly, it's still a solid game, despite some out-dated micromanager traps.

The games in the poll all have serious flaws. Too easy, many bugs and/or too repetitive.

ME2? Seriously? It's absolute bilge; the combat system is horrendous and every encounter is exactly the same, plus the 'love' scenes are just embarassing.
Whether or not this is your real opinion (it looks like, from your subsequent posts, it is), the fact remains that you have just successfully trolled this thread, intentionally or otherwise. See, everyone here (including me) loves ME2. And many people (not including me) will tear you to pieces.

OT: Halo: Reach. As posted in the one hundred million billion trillion quadrillion other GotY threads made so far that I've seen. In fact I just finished a Rocketfight in multiplayer matchmaking, it was hilarious awesome.

(And before everyone jumps on the bandwagon of OMG MULTIPLAYER BAD, YAHTZEE SAYS SO!!!, I also loved the Campaign, like I have done with every other Halo I've played).

Mass Effect 2 comes second.

Hope Metro 2033 (which I'm getting for Christmas) won't disappoint.

Despite my not playing it: Minecraft.

Seriously - It's a technical achievement, and it's easily the most game-changing title this year.

I gotta say Halo: Reach

I love all those games on the list but Halo has always stood out on top, plus after building the perfect console map editor and one of the best ending to a game, I think its awesome enough.

Honorable mentions:
Mass Effect 2 (Amazing game)
CoD: Black ops (Treyarch knows how to keep a multiplayer game going.)

Err.. no.

Gee, so you didn't like it. Whoo. A lot of other people did.
ME2 is a heartbreaker. The story and setting are very good (even if the dialog options are convoluted and tiresome), but the gameplay is dreadful. It doesn't know whether it's an rpg or an action game or a stop n pop shooter. The biotics are bland and useless and the npc party members utterly stupid.
Yeah, you just didn't like the game. The gameplay is loved by many, as are the characters. And Biotics are useless? Reave and Warp are some of the most powerful and useful attacks in the game. Pretty much every power, gun, and tech skill has strengths and weaknesses against the different types of defenses and enemies. Sorry you found the game of the year unenjoyable.

RDR, easily.

If you disagree, than you need to think about the technical achievement of the game. If you STILL disagree, than you must REALLY like Mass Effect 2.

Metro 2033, it was a underappreciated gem. It was atmospheric, chillingly bleak, had great background mythos, and most of all, it actually made ammo rare. I know that a lot of games have ammo being limited but since ammo is a currency you are never sure if you want to make the next fight easier or if you want to save up for that shiny new scoped, extended barrel, silenced, revolver with a stock (That is a weapon in the game)

New Vegas wins it for me, of course its one of the few 2010 games I bought this year. The others being Pokemon SS, Dead Rising 2, Bioshock 2. My brother has RDR by I really don't care for it.

Of all the games I have played that were released this year, Alan Wake was the best. Of course, considering the only game that was released this year that I bought was Alan Wake, I do not have many other options, now do I?

Fallout: New Vegas. Solidly.

Napoleon: Total War and Civilization 5 were viable candidates, Patrician 4 and Victoria 2 were dark horses, but I put almost a hundred hours into FNV (and now that the patch is coming out I'll probably play through it again) and loved every minute.

I really wanted to vote New Vegas, but really how could I? It has so many technical issues you can't ignore (as awesome as it is).

So I voted for Mass Effect 2, which is awesome and nearly perfect at the same time.

Gotta be Super Mario Galaxy 2 for me.
It may just be another sequel without innovation, but it perfected the formula it inherited from the first galaxy

Is it sad that I haven't played any of these games? D:

No money + 1 birthday + Christmas at the end of the year = No new games

Yeah.
