So yesterday I watched my 3 year old nephew beat the first level of Contra for the NES (I had to imput the fabled Konami code for him, but being 3 years old, I think thats only fair)

I think I was probably about the same age the first time I played a game.

So the question is, How old were you when you played your first game, and what was your first milestone in gaming?

I was about 3 or 4, first game was "Wiz n Liz" on the Genesis. Pretty hard game, at that age.

Oh, yes! Age of Empires! And the best thing is, I still play it, and I still enjoy it.

Quality game, that...

I started gaming (loosely) on the original Gameboy, but I didn't own an actual console until the N64 came out. My first real milestone was probably LoZ:Wind Waker, the first game I ever beat by myself.

First I played on the original game boy, then I got a PlayStation, which filled my days with Doom and Crash Bandicoot

I was three or four... I think it was Wing Commander. I'm inclined to believe it was on the PC then Super Nintendo. I wasn't very good at it, but I loved the game.

The one I cherish the most is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. That was the first game I ever beat, granted I beat it with my dad, but I actually played it better than him... while staring at it upside down. I used to be able to do that, can't anymore for some reason... the blood rushes to my head and my back and neck start to hurt.

I was 2 years old when I shot my first duck in Duck Hunt. That was my first video game and I have been playing since.

The year was 1993. I was 4 years old and Green Hill Zone was the start of my gaming life.

My first milestone? Finishing Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Yes, I finished the second first. For whatever reason I found the first one harder until I'd beaten 2. In fact I think it might've been Scrap Brain Zone.

I think we may have shared the same existence.

For me it was probably when I was around 3. It was either Sonic 2 or Sonic 1. As for my first milestone, getting to the final boss on Sonic 2. When I was younger I couldn't ever beat him, but I could get to him (although it took me a while).

I agree that 1 is harder than 2. Actually, I don't think I've ever beaten 1. Wow, now I feel like I really have to do that. In fact, I'm not sure if I've ever made it to the final boss without the debug code.

I think my first game was Links Awakening for GB, or some similar more obscure game.
I just remember playing a Zelda style game, and calling it Zelda, but what i remember doesn't match any Zelda games! I think i was about 4 at the time.

I first properly got into when i got a PS1 and played Hercules and Spyro a lot. Think i was 5 or 6 then.

Ooooh, wow... That was a while ago... I'd say around 3. My dad was young and a gamer, so I'm positive I was dragged in as early as possible. Don't remember what game, though. Probably Mario.

The first big gaming moment of mine was when I was... nine, I guess. I'd never been a gamer before then, I honestly didn't care for them. Then eldest sibling, who was five at the time, started playing Halo CE all the time. I gave in one time and played with him and LOVED it. And LOVED it even more when my dad and his friends started going to LAN parties and bringing the kids along. I'm still disappointed we don't do that anymore, it's the only thing I was ever able to do with that side of the family beyond work, and even that's not choice...

Hehe yeah. I'll never forget the level select either for that matter. For a good year or two the only way I could make it past the Labyrinth zones was by pressing Up Down Left Right, holding A and then pushing start. Even then I'd always get trapped or fried by those purple orbs.
