I play on Peaceful because combat is broken and not fun and Creepers are nothing more than what griefers online are which is why I maintain a private server for me and my friends/family.

Better $14 now, then $15 every freaking month for WoW.

You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Anyway, what I'm doing in my current world is making a cool glass, stone and wood house kind of like Fallingwater, and exploring the BIGGEST F***ING CAVE I have ever seen.

I built my house on a pillar of rock, wider at the top. I mined a well doored-off stairway inside the rock to get to the house I built on top. I mined a second stairway into the main chamber that I've been slowly expanding into the rock, and that is my mine.

A house on a hollow pillar of rock, that I'm mining down into. Works perfectly.

Is it just me or does that look like a chicken?

I build below ground and make a huge mine complex running everywhere I want. It would work better if my mine carts would stop disappearing every time I make a generator. I've lost almost 20 mine carts before I realized they were disappearing.

I am thinking of getting Minecraft, can anyone tell me what to expect/do right at the beginning? I didn't want to make a thread. I'm thinking of making little shacks everywhere I go, with fences so it can be easily defended.

At the beginning, the first thing you want to do is get a shelter set up before it gets to night. If it gets to night and you don't have a small shack to sit in until daytime, make a sword and hope you don't die.

Or you could play on Peaceful and do whatever the hell you want.

I built mine into the side of the waterfront and am currently in the middle of finishing my underwater base. The access point is a water-filled shaft and a door before the stairs and minecart trip into the main hub. One staircase leads to my mine, another a penned off and lit arboreum, my farm is located in the hub and grows all day, the ceiling and walls are glass for easy time checks, and an emergency exit is currently in the works. Lighthouses mark my territory on the water, the largest for my base

Does anyone else get daunted with how big some natural cave systems are that you just give up and explore elsewhere? It's happened to me about five times now. The systems just go on and on and there are creepers and skeletons everywhere and it's so easy to get lost in them.

Some of them are scary, I agree. I've become lost in caves for like 20 minutes before and expend over 150 torches just to quasi light them up.

My main Minecraft world has a gigantic fortress carved into a mountain. Something about building your fortress subtractively, leaving rock in place for support pillars, just seems really cool. Like the Mines of Moria.

I build a base, link it to one of my many other bases, repeat. Occasionally, when I find a good mountain, I build a castle on top of it(see spoiler).

Can I make multiple profiles? Or just the one?

I only played a wee bit before I got bored, but I spawned on a beach and made a sand castle. After that I wandered around whacking things at random before running home and hiding for some minutes from all the creepy things before randomly whacking more stuff and hiding when it got dark.
