Its more of the same.
If you have played the others then you don't have to play WaW.
Personally I think Modern Warfare is better.

Thirded, I got a lot more enjoyment from Modern Warfare. WAW is good, but that is all.

WaW is kinda like an expansion pack for CoD2... because ure still in WWII :/ Modern Warfare was better because they finally came out from the WWII theme and into the new modern fights... with new AWESOME WEAPS !

I'd say it was an above average game, the multiplayer split screen is flawed. Some levels were uninspiring and rather shit.

The Zombies were fun for awhile but quickly lose the appeal.

It's good, but that's it. If we're going to do another World War II game, let's at least have a bit more of change.

"ZOMBIES" is not a view sorry, I liked it, preferred the story to modern warfares but the online is more broken and it'd take too long to list the reasons why .

Fourthed. The story was good, albeit I didn't get a feel for the characters, the same way I did in Modern Warfare. But the online play was just Modern Warfare -60 odd years.

WaW was bad in my opinion. The amount of what annoyed me in COD2 was roughly doubled in WaW.

A few things off the top of my head:
- I am sick to death of the Russians. The mentor in the Russian campaigns does not shut up, continuously calling the Germans 'rats' and other stupid things. By the end of the game I actually felt like handing it to the Germans rather the Russians, and really wanted to congratulate that last german in particularly...
- The game is way too linear for a WW2 game. I want to flank the enemy and get to advantageous positions. I can't, even if it looks like I can, because the map's are far too heavily player-clipped. So I'm forced to go one or two ways which nearly always leads being flanked by the enemy.
- I am sick of CoD's AI, both enemy and teammates. They get in the way and block you. They actually don't do anything useful. They may as well not be there at all. In fact, that would work in many ways as, for one, I won't have to listen to their stupid, typical and repetitive lines.
- The gameplay is far too heavily scripted. You basically just battle waves of enemies who die and then return to the exact same spot moments later. Boring.

There are good things about WaW though. Like COD4, the detail in the levels. Oh, but the sounds... what the hell did they do with the gun sounds? They sound like bb-guns and they're nowhere near as audible as they should be.

Also, what is with the music? I swear I heard some metal and some sort of electronic in there. I like the heavy music in CoD4, but this style music doesn't work with WW2, not to mention electronic. The stylistic cutscenes do not suit the theme at all, either. They've gone for a far-too-modern approach in many areas.

I'd say that besides the levels, textures and models, the game was bland (and, for me only it seems; extremely annoying). I just hope that this really is the last WW2 CoD, as they're really flogging the genre now, if they haven't already.

It feels like an overpriced mod.

Too linear, too many fucking grenades, the same unimaginative and infuriating perks (martyrdom, last stand, grenade fucking launchers), the American levels made me want to cry with boredom, the graphics were only marginally superior, the AI pushed me out from cover, the combat was too scripted, prestige is pointless, the death cards are unsatisfying, co-op and nazi zombies is broken on PC, there have been very few fixes/patches, the multiplayer is just a graphically different version of Call of Duty 4's, the music was just awful, the flamethrower was pathetic compared to Far Cry 2's, the enemies were unvaried and repetitive, veteran difficulty is stupid, there were too many fucking grenades (which was even mentioned in the PC Gamer review), the fact that in multiplayer any side can choose any weapons bugs the hell out of me, there's a gulf in multiplayer between veterans and newbies because of perks and attachments, you can't customize your character visually, the maps are boring and full of horrible choke-points with few routes to get around them, and to top it all off...

it won't let me change the audio settings.

Bravo Treyarch! Now give me my money back.

Bad, not very bad, but bad nonetheless.
The Campaign made feel totally detached, I didn't even know the important character's names till the end.
And the attempts to make me feel sad the way CoD4 did, fell flat on their faces.

As for online, I have rarely seen a more busted game, and never out of a major developer.
The new guys get the worst guns and all the cool items abilities and gadgets are at the back end of the leveling system.

The maps glitch easily enough that it's possible to get shot ANYWHERE on the map and not know where it came from.

Artillery strikes are useless, you have no control over what actually gets hit, they aren't like Cod4's where you could bomb a 20foot square to hell, and it was mostly right where you put it.They spray all over the map, and kill nobody.
Dogs are impossible to fight, since they take three shots to kill and 1 bite to get you(hardcore)

The weapons, while realistic, are garbage, they look like playskool toys and the majority don't have a defining ability.
Let me explain this point, in CoD4, the G3 was for the demi-sniper spy, the M4 for the less experienced versions of such, they were neither of them powerful, but the had accuracy out the Wazoo, and they could kill 2 or 3 people without a reload anyway.
The Automatics varied from high power low accuracy(Aka, Ak-47, M60) to the Bullet Hoses(P90, uzi)
They balanced each other, a G3 was crap at pointblank, and a p90 couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 10 paces. You chose your style and worked to it's advantages.

In WaW, you have Bolt action(medium power, slow fire rate, reasonable accuracy) and rifles(less power more fire rate), shot guns(universally known for no range, an heaps of power), MG's(mostly low accuracy, high power high fire rate).

That;s okay, except that the good guns in each section(Fg42,Stg-44, PPsh-40)
were all acquired PAST lvl 40, so the first 40 levels are entirely an exercise in frustration as you get repeatedly ass-boned by a guy with an power gun, simply because he bought the game before you and has them now.

I suppose there is a case for them just being harder to use, but that would mean that people would do like in Cod4 and use them because of a preference, I have not yet seen a high level player using anything other than the power guns, excepting the challenge completion.

Bouncing Betties are invisible, unlike Claymores, which means that you cannot hope to move across the map in peace, because either a sniper will get you while you look for mines, or you hit a mine running from a sniper.

Last Stand(Second Chance) and Martyrdom are back, damn Treyarch to hell for that.

And finally, the game just has issues, people get locked out of games, booted from THEIR matches, and random skips in the game cause people to resurrect or simply take a whole clip without dying.

Also, grenade damage radius is useless. Many times I have witness my nade going off only a few metres from some AI enemies, and they didn't even get stunned. This means that you may as well just shoot them, which can have its problems too...

In SP it seems that a lot of the shots you fire simply doesn't affect the enemy, and I think that's when the enemy is in mid-animation. I remember a similar thing in COD2 where I would shoot dudes climbing over a fence and they weren't affecting by it.

Many times I have shots a few bursts into the enemy to witness them bend over for a bit then stand back up and start shooting me in your face again, straight away. So I fire some more and they go down... but they're still shooting me in your face from 100m away. By now they would have taken around 10-15 bullets to finally die.

A lot of good points were posted above and I found just about all of the SP-related problems very familiar in my experience. The developers could use this thread alone to improve the game ten fold. Frankly even that wouldn't entice me to play the game again.

Well, I just rented it from Gamefly. And while it doesn't do anything extraordinary it still has pretty fun multiplayer. Besides I prefer more classic weapons as apposed to those from COD4 that turn any newbie into a death dealing machine. So, if your going to get this game, RENT don't buy. (You'll enjoy it much more)
