Altru Ego Games is a tiny three-man games development team in Melbourne-Australia. We are made up of two certified games programmers and one certified games artist who have all worked together and proven our abilities in the past on non-commercial works.

We are finally going to get started on a real game, but first we need to know whether or not anyone even likes our game concept. There's no point making a game if no one likes it and I'm sick of eating two-minute noodles so without further delay...

The simplest way to explain our game idea would be: Battlefield with SPACESHIPS! You can picture it as being something like the combat scenes from 'Battlestar Galactica' (awesome little fighter ships pulling crazy maneuvers with streams of bullets flying overhead). Add a load-out and progression system similar to Battlefield or 'Call of Duty', and a few massive spaceships to keep things interesting.

The game is a purely multiplayer game (with the exception of tutorial levels) but very little else is set in stone. There may be a class system (currently intended), or there may not be. There may be a dock-able 'tank' style vehicle, or there may not. None of this has been decided 100% and your input can help to shape this.

So thoughts? Would you be interested in our game? Do you have any feedback on our concept, such as things you would love or hate to see included in the games design?

LOVE AND KISSES,
Altru Ego Games (three poor indie devs).

Remember all that hype over the rumors of "Call of Duty: Future Warfare?"

This sounds like that, and that idea gave me a boner for murder. Well played, Altru Ego.

Well, as long as it is in space it should work right? Seems like a cool idea, with ambitious people behind it. You have my support!

Though I have to ask, isn't balancing going to be a problem? I'd say Foot Soldier versus Space Ship isn't exactly a fair fight, unless everyone has Jedi powers.

I've always loved the space battle stages in Star Wars battlefront. It sounds a little bit like that.

I'd probably check it out.

I don't really play games like that, but I did like Halo Reach's space battle, so if it's anything like that I'd play it. Plus, the idea of a progression system like CoD/Battlefield sounds great. And it's always good to have indie devs like you guys, because you need great ideas to stay in business, and I think you found one.
Hope to see your games sometime in the future.

As long as you can destroy the enemy shields and dock in their capital ships and have a bit of ground combat(a la Star Wars Battlefront.), I'm in.

Sounds like you are barely on the concept phase which is OK, but you should probably ask once you've developed the idea a little more, since it's still rather vague, that being said I'm always on the lookout for spaceship games so I'll probably give it a go.

Sounds awesome , but it'd be cool if there was either a single player campaign, or if that just won't work, local matches where you can play with bots, solo or splitscreen.

Have you thought about the extra money you will need to develop the multiplayer code and to have your game's MP dedicated servers up and running?

Or if you don't have servers, to do a working well implemented code to optimize the game host?

Honestly it souds like an awful way to start your indie carrer, but if you pull it off or get some publisher's founding, go for it. I would play a good developed freespace multiplayer any day.

I would take the option for the poll: "I would play that game if it's well made, but don't see how you can pull it off".

Edit: Maybe do first a MVP with bots and a short single player stuff, kinda UT or Quake campaigns that should be ez to implement; while keeping the code tought to go multiplayer after that. Then with money do a multiplayer.

Battlefield in space? Strategic, possibly team/squad based spaceship combat? I'd love to play that! Honestly, this looks quite interesting, and I would gladly play (and, of course, pay) for it.

Would you be willing to place a demo/alpha of the game up for people to try out once you get it working?

Only online, not really my thing. I don't tend to play games online, MW and MW2 were an exceptin, but that's a phase that's past.

Yes this means I don't play Team Fortress 2 -_- not my thing.

A long as it's not just a empty space with a bunch of fighters shooting lasers. Creative levels, variety of game-play, all that jazz. You could really switch up that game-play with some interesting level design. So far most dog-fights take place on a flat plain or open space.

A huge ship explodes but is still partially operational and constantly changes the layout of the level. A giant hanger in the middle that connects the 2 sides together that randomly opens a closes. Trapping fighters inside a very small combat area, no room for error.

Two planets collide but are kept apart by giant towers on the surface.

A planet that's half submerged in a gas giant, fighting on the edge of the surface.

You can be pretty creative in space, don't waste the potential.
