I don't like them because they are annoying I don't think they cause violence or anything like that.

For target practice I prefer REAL guns.

For skirmishes I prefer paint-balling.

So overall I would say they are useless but not dangerous if used properly. (This applies to all things in life)

Aww now I have to sound like I have a bug up my ass, because I hate those prick children who go around shooting people with airsoft guns for no reason :(

But otherwise, I like paintballing a lot better. It just feels more badass.

Me and my friends occasionally play it, not as much anymore now. I just have some simple cheap ones, it seems that any of the more expensive ones I brought weren't much better and ended up breaking somehow. I think they are fine, as long as the people using them take simple safety precautions like wearing protective eye glasses, and if it has an orange tip or something that lets you know it's not a real gun, and maybe have an age requirement to buy one (13 sounds about right).

I've had times when the police overreact to the them in my neighborhood. Other times where the cops were really cool about it. It seems the people that don't know exactly what airsoft guns are are the ones that tend to overreact.

I love air soft yet I don't see the point with BB guns. They can easily kill with enough power and good enough accuracy. I think you should be 13 be for your exposed to them though.

GREAT! I have a question for you guys: what would you say is like the age requirement for airsoft guns? I've been playing with my nephews for a while with nerf guns but replacing all the foam bullets after they disappear (like they always do) is starting to become expensive

I actually learned a lot from having my own pellet pistol. Like proper gun discipline and precautions. Apart from that I can't help but feeling that kids that get BB guns are kinda spoiled. It's a lot more fun to make your own blow dart guns (the more elaborate the better!) using folded up news paper darts and PVC pipes to fabricate the gun proper. Then you can actually shoot eachother :)

I have 2 Airsoft guns for shooting cans, but mainly as costume pieces since I bought them before that stupid Orange rule came into place. The only thing I ever hurt with them is a Wasp that had stung me on the foot. That stripy bastard rued the day he flew through MY window.

As long as you're safety concious they can be fun to use and own.

I'm a bit of an airsoft enthusiast. I go to skirmishes almost every week in the season (Snow in the winter). As to why I do it? Video games are good and all, and they were what lead me into it, but there's also a lot of limitations in movement and other actions that make a gun fight fun and exhilarating. My purchases are all inspired by weapons I like a lot in video games.

Another bonus for me is maintaining them, tuning them, keeping their perfomance at the peak. Just last night I sat at my desk till 2 am cleaning and thereafter installing upgrades I had recieved during the day.

As to what I own:

Tokyo Marui P90 - Blame Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost in the Shell for this (High five to the other owner of one in this thread)
Tokyo Marui MP7A1 - Another Rainbow Six Vegas inspired buy (Also a high five to the other person with one in this thread)
Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 (Best performing gas pistol out of the box)
Classic Army Arsenal SLR105 Para (My love for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. shines through this rifle)
ASG Dan Wesson 8 Inch CO2 Revolver - Cause I love revolvers (500-600 FPS holy shit)

I might suffer a bit from having-too-much-money syndrome.
