At first I thought it was funny. Sony got hacked? The entire PSN down? Good job hackers!

But then it dragged on and kept going, and they started to look like jerks and really just infringing on the innocent customers who did not ask for anything, and just want to play.

And now..i don't know anymore. I feel like, even tho I don't think it's their intention, they are revealing major holes in online security. Looks like they are hacking websites pretty easily. I think this could be a necessary evil for the corporations to realize that they have to stop messing around with our personal info.

I guess it's easy for me to have this point of view when my credit card info was not actually compromised, but the hackers don't seem to be using the info they stole, but just show do it for fun.

What do you guys think? Hackers are complete bastards, necessary evil? Something else?

I kinda see the pont in the whole Anonymous hack, since it was all freedom of choice and Geohot was only trying to promote freedom and all that malarky, but I still thought it was pretty stupid (and I'm an XBox man myself). The lulz boat, however, needs to be sunk. Fast.

I seem to remember the "point" behind the hack being that the hackers thought Sony was being to pushy and demanding to much money from customers. Their idea was, "Xbox games are so cheap, why can't PS games be the same?"

Although they forgot that Xbox charges for its LIVE service, I do kinda see their point. Still complete bastards though...

It's beginning to dominate all the game news and it's getting harder to ignore.

I don't care about it, but I can't get news on games I'm interested in without getting stuff about these annoying hacks shoved in my face. :/

Fucking dickholes, because of the guys who attacked the Gawker sites I had my email address and password (which I used to use for everything near) put in some fucking torrent, I only ever posted 1 comment on Kotaku a few years ago. Caused a lot of problems and most people seemed to fully approve of what they were doing.

What the hell did I ever do to some anonymous hackers? What has the average PSN user done to them?

Wait a minute dont they cost the exact same amount?
Thats the stupid thing about it I'm afraid...

Strangely they never moaned about Xbox having more exclusive games like Halo.

I support what Anonymous stands for, but I don't support the people who stole information from PSN. They did that for personal gain, and are basically nothing to do with Anonymous, even if they claim to be members. At least, that was my understanding of the situation. Anonymous steals personal info/messes stuff up to prove a point. The PSN hack (at least the major one) was just old fashioned data theft to sell to people, I think.

I see them as a harbinger to the future of computing. Maybe an underwhelming harbinger, but one nonetheless. Bring on the shady corporations and neon lights!

I want these hackers found firstly.

Then, I want each of their bones broken, one by one, and after each one, we state "Hey, don't blame us. It's not our fault you trusted your bones to a system that can be so easily broken. We're only exposing bones for being weak support."

Then, make them bag for the sweet release of death, and tell them "No"

So, yes, not a fan

If that's the case then I wouldn't like them, but can I ask who exactly they have hacked for "TEH LULZ"? All I have is your word against their's.

The only times I've heard of them doing any hacking, it's been for a cause, and I've usually agreed with them.

Quite honestly I am very tired of this shit. I have seen a new video game company hacked every few days for the past couple weeks. All it is doing is harming the video game industry as a whole. People are losing faith in the ability to keep their personal info safe on the part of video game companies. People are less likely to buy games or addons, meaning less money as a whole for the game industry. The icing on the cake is that they are doing it because it gets them press time, not because they are some cyber hero. I for one am ready to see the end of this.
