Guns have recently become to me not so much as tools, but malevolent weapons. I am terrified by their power, even when using them on a practice range. I don't trust them, and fear them greatly.

What do you think about firearms?

EDIT: It might be worth noting that, ironically, I'm a very accurate shot...

I dont think this will end well......

OT: To me firearms fascinate me, from the mechanisms to the cultural impact they have. But i do know the potentials they have and i believe that with proper training it will be a safe activity(range shooting etc)

Firearms are a danger in the wrong hands, and a blessing in the right ones. I'm alright with civilians having them, as long as they are sane, functioning members of society.

I love the things. If you ask me, they are works of art, much in the same way most consider Samurai armor from Japan. I just find the mechanics of them fascinating. I cannot really label a word to them for what they mean, but in a phrase I guess you could call them "Functional Art".

I voted all of the above, but in fact they don't mean wealth to me. Just danger, safety and power. Dependent upon the gun, and who's holding it.

I use mine for hunting, stress relief, and home protection. But mostly, I just like going to the range and tossing off a few hundred rounds just to ease the nerves and clear the mind.

i love guns, and i think every person who is not a crazy or have violent tendencys should have one. unfortunately crazies and people with violent tendencys generally are the ones who get them. so even more reason to have one your self

Standard critical analysis will show that they're tools for killing.

However some more conservative speakers would say they're protection, if not from crime (humorous), from the regime itself. That may have merit to it...

Firearms are tools, tools that are used to complete a specific task. Like any other tool, if overused they do more harm than good.

I've been around guns all my life. I own them, I use them in my job, and I use them for recreation sometimes. Guns are dangerous and need to be handled with great care, that being said though guns do not kill people. People kill people with whatever tool they choose.

Oh, the sarcasm.

I like guns. I find them fascinating and fun to use, if used properly. I hate it when some retard shoots someone, whether accidental or not, and the media jumps all over it. When was the last time firearms got any good press? Oh thats right, never. Look, guns are used to hurt people every damn day. They are also used to save people every damn day, you just hear less about it. Why? Heck if I know; I'd figure saving a life is a better story than taking one would be.

Don't worry, it won't. These debates never do.

I think that guns are interesting not due to their application as weapons but because of the technology behind them.

Owning a firearm for self defense is a silly thing. Most countries dont justify owning a firearm for self defense a valid reason i might add.

Guns are sort of a mixed bag, you have them as a symbol of authority, of safety, of fun, of badassedness.

And then you have the idiots or the psychopaths, and then you have the symbol of death and despair.

They help and they hurt, same with a lot of other things.

To me, guns mean that someone has a reason to own a firearm.

Anything else depends entirely on the person who owns the gun. Many gun owners I know shouldn't be trusted with anything sharper than their fingernails. Most of them are sane, but there are a few Americans I know who provide a perfect argument to rescind the Second Amendment.
