that either they have

1. been with the escapist for a long time

or

2. No lives and they should find another hobby

The only thing I look at, on other forums, is the join date. You can usually find a close group of users if you look at the join date.
Post counts mean didly though, as I know a guy who had a ridiculously high post count on an average sized forum. He admitted that he used to be a spammer but now he was a cool dude that gets teased at his "glory days"

A high post count does not mean your opinion is any more valid. Some people can talk a lot without actually saying anything.

I find join date more interesting. I've been here a year and now post less as I see the natural recycling of topics.

I guess a high post count just means you've dodged the ban hammer for longer.

Could care less, and they probably spend to much time here... the smug "I have a high post count so I'm a god" ones piss me off...

If they have an extremely high post count and have joined recently, I generally wonder about the quality of their posts and if most of them come out to one or two word answers. Otherwise I don't really care.

Don't think anything of it, I racked up a massive post quota on a few reptile forums myself.

I think it's impressive they haven't been banned by then, but I also think they could easily have reached enlightenment if they had spent as much time meditating as writing down witty reactions

They are gods and we should worship the land they walk on, for they, they are the chosen ones...who will acsend to the heavens and rule with an iron will over all the world for centuries.

I'll be honest Commi. You are the only person that I go, "How did he get all those posts?" Only because you joined a month after me. And have almost 10 times my post count.

OT: I really don't care. Everyone has a reason for their post count. Be it time, effort or intrest in topic. If someone praises me for my count I will say, that there is no need to.

If they condem me for it then I ignore it because condeming me for something so trivial is something I don't wish to dwell on.

Wow, every respondent has been a gonzo or higher. I think of myself as fairly verbose, but I can't imagine the amount of time you must devote to build your counts to where they are now. Part of me is impressed, and part thinks they need some variance in their hobbies.
Don't be impressed and don't tar us with the "no life brush" (though I know you didn't mean it that way)

Some of us spend a long time on the computer and like to post our thoughts. If I wasn't posting, I'd be writing...and often I need to do more of that.

I should try meditation, it's better than sitting around all day doing nothing. ;)

Ever since I got more than 3500 posts I've been getting tons of random adds.

People look up to larger numbers it seems, hell it took me 8 months to earn the 'Gone Gonzo' title.

Now I get random group invites and friend requests from people I haven't even heard of, or ever talked to. But I'd like to say to the next lot: If you are going to add me, please message me first.

I don't care much about post-count, but if they've only been here for 3-6 months and have 20K posts, then I just try to avoid them as much as possible.
