If it's good, then it's good. No point lettign prejudice get in the way. I'm not the type of person to think:

"wow, that song (that happened to use Auto-tune) sounded really good, but since I'm a purist douchebag who thinks the art of singing should be 100% natural with no technological enhancements... so I will force myself to hate it because of my prejudice"

T-pain and others like him obviously makes good songs with auto-tune. If you don't like that, well congratulations, you are a human being with your own unique preferences. I don't like Limp Bizkit, we all have a type of music we don't like, so who cares. No point wishing ill on that type.

Auto-Tune is only the naturally progression of the ongoing faking of the music industry. Ever since MTV, image has been more important than talent. Look at the masterful vocals that bands like Queen and Boston were able to pull off without that shit...

Hell, even bands like Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones and AC/DC don't have great singing, but it didn't matter, they have musical talent. Now, you don't even need to be able to sing. Just present the right image and you're in.

I curse whoever the douchebag was who invented that horrid device. Thanks to auto-tune some of the crappiest crap to ever be craped has come into existence. If it were up to me I would ban that stupid thing.
Funny, it was originally used as sonar to detect things in the ocean, and someone messed with it to make it a voice tuner.
Personally, I don't mind it, but I don't really like it a lot either. In small amounts it sounds okay, but most people abuse the hell out of it

I have no problem as long is it's used sparingly and properly. I hate it when a whole singer or rapper is only famous because of that machine. but I wouldn't blame the machine, I'd blame the singer/rapper and the people that hire them.

Remember when artists sang the right notes, it wasn't digitally altered?

You know, back when popular singers actually had fucking talent?
So...You're going to do something about it?

Just wondering.

In most applications, it takes "talentless" to the level of "tasteless".
As a matter of treating it as an alternate "Instrument"...it's rarely used that way.

Kill it with fire.

It's hardly ever useful and only serves most of the time to create horrible "musician's", who can't even sing or create decent music. People who are good singers don't require auto-tune.

When done right I do like auto-tune. Stuff like Daft Punk I've always fancied. And hell, I even like Cher's Believe. (Which I believe was one of the first songs to use auto-tune.)

Now-a-days though, it' clearly abused in a lot of today's songs. Hopefully that'll change soon.

It completely removes all of the humanity from a song. If you have to "tweak" you probably shouldn't have a record deal in the first place. Can you imagine if, for example, Kurt Cobain used auto-tune? No one would FEEL Nirvana. The polish has to come off and you have to bare your insides before you can call yourself an "artist". I like auto-tune in techno-y, teen house party make out music (Metro Station, etc.) but I'm sick of all of these people, some of whom have wonderful voices, killing this tool that should have never existed. If you can't reach a note, change it. If you can't sing, don't. If you want to suck the soul out of the greatest tool of self-expression ever, use auto-tune. :/

I want to be a musician when I grow up.

Most people's view on auto tune is a view with Justin Bieber and Kanye West and such in it, which is the part that needs to die in a horrible, horrible fire.

But did you guys know that auto tune is also used to "polish" most albums today. Hell, I know an artist who's releasing an album soon, and he's used a little auto tune to make the album sound pitch perfect. And you know what? It does sound really good. He's an awesome singer without auto tune, but with it, it sounds more finished, you know?

But still, the Auto tune used in the top list pop music and such needs to die. Fast.

Auto-tune must only be used for artistic purposes.
It has it's place, and it's obvious to tell when it's being applied appropriately and when it's NOT.

BECAUSE IF EVERY GODDAMN SONG IN YOUR ALBUM IS AUTO-TUNED THEN YOU FAIL AND CAN'T SING FOR SHIT.

That's the problem with being a consumer. You can pay to support artists/industries you like, but you can't pay to antagonize artists/industries you hate.
No, I ask: are you going to do something about it?

As in: Are you going to protest, troll, get people notice etc etc.
