The point here is to try and critizes yourself and your opinions. Introspection is supposed to be an important aspect in your life.

(Last poll option - "I can't see myself as such a different person")

I want to ask each of you a series of simple questions and receive some sort of an answer from you-

1. "What will make you admit a misake you've made?"

2. What will make you admit to a mistake you've done in the past?

3. What will make you change your mind, renounce your faith or repent?

4. What will make you a dirty communist or a greedy capitalist? (Applies to any socio-economic policy, so answer if you're not either and state your wolrd view in this matter)

5. And finally, can you even imagin yourself holding a different opinion on some of your more core aspects of your personality and world view?

(Escapists, share what you want to. Also know that there is a great range of options here and I'm sorry if I haven't mentioned anyone here)

Before I answer any of your question, I admire the fact that your avatar is Otto Von Bismarck, good man but then again I have a biased love of Germans, anyway to the Questions!

1. What makes me admit to a mistake, is when there is irrefutable evidence to support the opinion that I'm not supporting, or that the evidence provided against my argument is by a more reputable source.
2. If someone tells me something I did in the past and the fervour of the argument is gone or I just don't feel that way anymore I will admit that what I said was wrong, but if I still feel the same, an argument will just start again.
3. If I just don't care as much anymore, which is kind of what happened. Honestly life after death or just play nothing really don't bother me because there's not too much I can do about it, it happens to everyone so there is no need in worrying. If God walked out and said he's right I would believe I guess, but until then I'll remain agnostic.
4. I already like proper marxism, not the crap the Soviets or the Chinese do, but there's not really a reason for me to care to much, because there really is not way I'd ever experience in my life (I live in Australia, the day all of Australia can be fucked establishing a Marxist state is the day men give birth to babies).
5. Definitely, I've already changed opinions that I used to hold as core beliefs. An example would be that my family has always been strongly conservative (Liberal party in Australia and somewhat Nationals) and I held it belief that they were the best party around. Eventually though thanks to some recent events, my support has wained for them, but neither party is very good so it makes me sad.

well, I can sure imagine having completely different opinions in the future, considering how my current opinions are only based on my life's experiences so far, and there's only so much I've seen. so yes, the possibility exists as well as likeliness to a certain degree.

Based on that I could also pull a nihilist and say that all opinions don't matter if they're completely interchangable, but that's wrong insofar as that they really do matter and move everything in this world.

Then again, certain behavioural patterns are pretty much hardwired in our brains, so that will limit the possible variations somewhat, which could lead to the assumption that we actually cannot change some of our core aspects, as it would require massive rewiring.

EDIT:
But to answer the actual question:
"What will make you admit a mistake you've made?"
one would need to show me that my action did more harm than good, and that I would've been capable of an alternative action with more preferable results.

Then again, that is all undermined the second emotional attachment to certain topics comes into play. meh -.-

Well I don't stick to my principles for the sake of principle, but because I consider them the reasonable thing to stick to, even on the rare (regrettably lately more common) occasions when I'm being irrational about it.

Should the situation, priorities or any other relevant circumstance change, I'd be inclined to revise and see if they need to be amended.

Make me admit I'm wrong? Obviously objective proof will do it or just showing holes in my thought processes which causes me to reevaluate a given stance.

If it's just a mistake, I can't say I really try to hide those. Good chances to learn and to show I'm still a human (for now).

A mistake in the past? If it mattered at all, I've probably already owned up to it. If I haven't, it's probably so insignificant that it isn't even worth bringing up.

Faith? I can imagine myself without my religion, but I can't imagine myself actually giving it up. I tend to realize when it's shaping my views and I can easily see how I would be fairly different than I am right now. That said, I'm pretty firm in my faith and don't see it changing, but who knows. Time makes fools of us all.

When it comes to economic policy, I tend to prefer a very mild socialism. Fairly close to what we have in the US once we get that whole healthcare thing taken care of. My political views are usually decided on an issue-by-issue basis so for me to be my polar opposite, I'd have to be changed one issue at a time via the method mentioned up top.

Holding different core beliefs? To an extent. I try to keep my core beliefs as fluid as possible. I realize that I don't know everything and so I try to keep my mind and my heart as flexible as possible so I can adapt. I can't see my core beliefs being flipped, but they definitely shift over time, even day to day.

Time, if you don't look back on yourself and see an idiot that doesn't make you smart it just means you ain't learning.

What will make you change your mind, renounce your faith or repent?
I'm not sure I can renounce anything as I tend to hold myself as an agnostic.

What will make you a dirty communist or a greedy capitalist?
I'm more of a capitalist as I believe in each man should look out for themselves, though any excuses resources obtained after achieving a comfortable life should be shared, though that belief is still part of capitalism.

And finally, can you even imagine yourself holding a different opinion on some of your more core aspects of your personality and world view?
While I can't see myself having different core views, I still imagine that one day they will change.

I can see my political views changing over time. They have in the past.

My faith in a higher power has degraded to agnosticism with a mix of deism and I doubt that will change any time soon without something major influencing it.

The only things I cant see my views on changing are things like human rights and morals.
