Youtube is great for videos, but if you want to get on it, say for the community it's better to come here. There are strange people on youtube.

It's a tool that is only as good as the people who use it. I've relied on it while teaching, since there are many unknown gems out there.
That being said, I've never seen anything stupider then some of the comments left on certain videos. It is like they took the worst kind of people, lowered their IQ a few notches, and let them loose in the video comment sections.
EDIT: Here is an example...I once even received some PM from a metalhead who tried to convince me that Hitler managed to take over based solely on his restriction of civilian gun ownership. When I reasonably pointed out that while he might have used gun restriction as one of several means to maintain power, he came to power by exploiting a longstanding tradition of antisemitism in Germany (and elsewhere) he then PMed back a long-winded and incomprehensible rant about how I was a "sheeple" and that I needed to "wake up".
This is the quality of person you deal with there, it seems.

Anyway, there is some gold among the shit, so it's worth having the site around because those people who actually know how to use a computer (hopefully a category most of us fall into) are smart enough to know where the crap is and stay away from it.

The thing I find with Youtube is that unless you know what you're looking for, it's just overwhelming. I read a stat that said something like there was more original content uploaded to Youtube in 2008 than if NBC aired original programming 247/365 since the 40's. Might not be exactly that but it was a staggering realization nonetheless.
I wish they wouldn't be so uptight about copyright rules. I love youtube, but I can't find some of my choice clips because of copyright violation.
