Like everything else by Rebecca Mayes, it makes *insert pop star flavour of the week* sound tolerable.
Well that is because she is capable, you can't say that about pop music stars usually. She also clearly enjoys it and cares about trying to make something good. It's a product with integrity unlike so many others... I'm looking at you Rihanna...
Wait, what? That doesn't make sense. Why would her alleged capability make her less preferable to listen to than generic pop star #35724573436?
I was using sarcasm to call him stupid for thinking that rebecca mayes, a person who can actually play real instruments, is somehow less talented than say... the entire top thirty of virtually any given music chart.
I completely disagree actually. Some pop stars (e.g. Brittney Spears etc) that don't write their own music and lip sync yeah sure, but most singers in pop are MUCH better singers than Rebecca. Honestly her singing ability was average, singers like Beyonce, Lady Gaga and yes even Rihanna are all much better and it isn't just studio effects (they sound much better live). Many pop singers (Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, most people in rock/indie rock) can also play instruments so I don't see your point.

Seriously her music isn't that ground breaking, their are literally thousands of people on youtube who also sing about stuff from our world and a good portion are as good or better than Rebecca.

This is coming from a musician and somebody who hates pop and listens almost exclusively to metal.

Except that she can't sing.

On a side note, Rebecca, if you're reading these, remember that the internet allows for people to be very boorish and savage, and extremely offensive. And I don't pretend to know you, but I would hope that, if you read posts like some of these, you'll calmly take the harsher/non- constructive criticisms and disregard them. They can only hurt, and are at best personal opinions lacking in tact.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that she probably doesn't need defending. I doubt a curmudgeon like me bothers her in the least.

I know a lot of people find her attractive. But come on, white knights. Settle down.

Fair enough, JEBWrench- pretty, she is.

But just in case she were to see the comments, and the lack of tact displayed in some of them, and just in case her songs reflect on who she is, it might be nice to know that some people, even if they don't like that particular style of song, don't have to take huge craps all over the work, or the artist.

So you have a better point of view because you write off things based purely on genre and limit yourself to a single subsection of actually artistic expression?

You've clearly never met someone who seriously can't sing. If you had to suffer my sister's boyfriend you would truly gain perspective. He is the definition of not only tone deaf but incapable of telling, he thinks shouting is the same as singing.

No, it is to show that I am unbiased towards the pop stars that i mentioned and I was basing it purely off of musical skill - not fanboyism.

That's not great logic... I'll find a plumber to fix a broken pipe not a bricklayer who thinks plumbers are assholes.
