If the apocalypse ever does come around, i'll just marry Alice off of Resident Evil and let her protect me. Or one of her clones.

If it turns out that the films are just fictional.. well then i suppose a pistol. Shotguns are ok for short range, but i don't really want to get within a short range. And it's faster to pull out and easier to carry.

A pistol or shot gun would probably be the best choices for a fire arm because you are more likely to find ammo for them then anything else.

Crowbars are good and don't run out of ammo, but you get tired and zombies don't.

A flame throw or fire of any kind is a bad idea because at best you end up with walking candles that set other non-zombie things on fire.

Over all non of there weapons are idea so I would probably go with something I find on the ground in the hopes that it is something cool and not just a rock. Though the possiblility of that is slim.

guns need reloading which takes time plus bullets can miss. if i had to use a gun i'd go for a pistol due to little recoil so more accurate shots. my ideal weapon would be a sword, preferably a katana and preferably 2 of them.
You'd kill yourself wielding 2 katanas, don't kid yourself :)
Me, I'd got for a decent sub-machine gun and strafe em to death.

actually...yeah, you're probably right. knowing me i'd stab myself by accident while trying to get them

Since i'm that cool I have the "Zombie survival guide" by Max Brookes and it says bolt actions rifles ftw!. Due to its ability for single headshots it means i don't over use ammo and am always guarenteed a kill.

Well that or the good old Boom-stick (army of drakness rocks xD )

I would choose the bolt-action rile because
1: I've used one very extensively from age 10 on
2: Distance is the best defense
3: Less ammo boxes to carry while on the move
4: In the end, only a head shot will take a zombie down, so might as well use a weapon that makes every shot count

Actual zombie mythology (yes) says that they need to have their brains destroyed. The best thing for this is a long range rifle. Fire works, but its still alive for a little while (remember half life 2). Grenades blow up the zombie, but if zombie juice gets into you then you turn into a zombie (or something like that). Some sort of club is not that good because they will also be able to get you.

It's so obvious a Tank you can't get bitten, it has huge guns, lots of space AND when your out of ammo you can still run htem over or a barrat .50cal sniper one shot and BOOM zombie soup
There's a huge flaw in your reasoning. You see a Tank is extremely noisy, so it'll end up attracting zombies all the way from freaking Ireland to have a go at it, it has a deep dead zone(an area which the tank can't use it's weapons) and also zombie's will attempt and succeed to climbing onto the tank and then you're pretty much boned. Also a .50 cal sniper rifle is extremely noisy and hard to find ammo for.

I'm extremely disappointed in the choices available:

Knives don't need reloading.....

Have so many people forgotten the survival guide so quickly?

If i had a choice for one weapon, a modified shotgun.

Three barrels, with a ammo feeder with a pack full of shells.

I plan to hold up for the most part, traveling in a group, only going out when supplies are dire, and the local population seems to have more of a reasoning process.

And if things get hairy or john(Word pun), then my native american blood tells me a tomahawk can shatter through bone.

Easy, portal gun, one end at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean, other on the floor of a narrow hallway, /sit in corner laughing as zombies fall through portal.

Well according to Max Brooks Zombie Survival guide out of these choices it would be best to use a crowbar: no ammo, open doors or pathways, sturdy and a good melee imstrument when needed. But out of pure badassness a shotgun.
