Twilight fans obviously, it's already happening god damn it, can't you see?

But seriously, whiney little twilight fangirls/boys will be next on my list despite any other set trend.

The death screams of the Twilight fans will be sweet, sweet music to my ears. Also I want to float upside down and spin in reverse at the same time so physics too.

Elves.. Please let me pump lead into their ego filled bodies while screaming ''How sophisticated are you now, assholes?!''
To which they'll reply, "Sophisticated enough to have some of our guys sneak up behind you!"

You'll then feel a sword poke out from your chest, and will die for being such an unintelligent fool. They will then go about their business of being a superior race and all that.
Their elves. Do you even know what elves are? Their bloody fairies. That means an iron skillet is enough to make their day suck. Don't even have to hit em, just make sure they touch it. I think a few bullets will do me just fine.
Elves and fairies are not the same thing. At least not the ones Crossborder was referencing.
Yes, bullet's will kill them, but what I was trying to get at is that if you run in spraying bullets and shouting like a tool, they're going to outsmart you. Quickly.
They're stronger, faster, and more intelligent than humans and they heal much faster and can see you coming from miles off.

Seriously, don't bother arguing with me - I could rant about elves until you die of boredom and/or admit that I'm right.
Are we talking about Tolkien, Romanized (I know this isn't a word, couldn't think of anything else) or German elves? I just realized I pay WAY to much attention in my mythology class. Anyways, if Tolkien well I don't care what you say because he ruined the concept of elves when he made a Mary Sue race that people constantly live their fantasies through. If your talking Romanized then actually I am right because they are considered fae, if your talking German then I will give it to you because of the 3 their probably the lease annoying. Instead of being some uber Mary Sue race their basically Hercules in concept and any human who was awesome enough could become one.

Anyways back on topic

Can anyone think of a game with mummies in it as the main enemy? I can't and even though their basically another flavor of zombie it would be kinda cool to play.

twilight fans, they number in the "there should be no way in hell there should be this many" slot of fans, so might as well cut some of em down right?

Cultists, please let it be cultists, like in RE4

Theres nothing better than seeing some robed guy with an animal-skull mask looking oh so tough, and then blasting of his face with a shotgun.

This being a gaming forum and seeing as we're posting in a thread about enemies in games, I was talking about the type of elves that appear the most in games, which would usually be variations on Tolkien's elves.
You can't say that he ruined them ,because if he hadn't had them in his books, they wouldn't be as widely known as they are today and, let's be honest, who cares about German or Roman elves? Not a lot of people, I'm guessing.
Also, what do you mean by "Mary Sue" race?

the video game version of the mummy movie...
sure its crap but its the only one I can think of, in fact I think there are a few zombie levels in scooby doo night of a thousand frights or something similar (it was for the PS1-2 so I think its best we all just forget about that)

I think the problems with a mummie as the main enemy is that
1) Mummies are more goofy than zombies, sure the mythos behind them is steeped in ancient traditions from a time when the kings of the lands were considered gods, but in modern culture the reanimated corpse of an egyptian king couldnt be more goofy if it wore rollerskates and had a fruit decorated hat on... I can seriously think of no decent Mummy movies, closest thing is The Mummy films with Brendan Fraiser and even those were wearing thin faster than cloth wrapped around a deca... you get my point.
Also see "Walk like an Egyptian" by The Bangles if you don't believe that people dont respect mummies and their ancient traditions.

2) A mummy game must innevtiably be set in egypt, yes other cultures practiced embalming and preserving the corpses of people, but when you say mummy you instantly think of big triangles and sweltering heat, am I right?
Unless you can break the stereotype there can be no decent mummy games...

3) Mumification was reserved for those in power, where as zombies can be spawned on mass by breaking a glass vial full of blue liquid, so the only way you could make a mummy game was to make it very japanese style horror, lots of suspence, building slowly until... BAM!
Tutankhamun is wailing on you with a big stick!

4) The innevitable racism issues involved with number 2

I hope aliens. But zombies give the possibility for story appropriate enemy spamming, so that the AI doesn't have to be that good for a frantic feel to gameplay.

I like the idea of fighting a small number of enemies who have you outgunned and outmanuvered. Aliens could be pretty good for this.

It's gonna be fucking penguins next.

Those creepy little shits dress up like a fancy dress party and slide around on their bellies.

What the hell isn't wrong with that?!!!?!

Very good points I just think it's interesting because of the mythology surrounding them and i'm talking about all mummies not just Egyptian ones. They probably wouldn't make a good mass enemy but a specialized one they would. They would probably fit better in a more RPG esqe shooter then something like L4D.

True and your right he didn't ruin them. I'll explain what I mean by the ruin and comment and Mary Sue in one go. Basically after Tolkien made them this beautiful uber race they became that in everything and quite a few people I've known (in RL and over the net) have treated them like they can do no wrong.

"Oh those sad humans and their technology"

"Oh those pathetic dwarves and their mountains"

"Oh those stupid orcs and their....green stuff"

It's incredibly annoying and because he made them into this perfect Mary Sue race (Mary Sue being a character that is considered perfect to the point of being uninteresting) I dislike Tolkiens Legacy.

Generic middle-eastern terrorists as usual, but maybe we might start going after North Korea soon.
