So, after recently creating my own polled thread, I was curious as to whether there were any tools tied into a poll so that I could do some simple analysis on it?

By tools I only mean a way to show totals, and sub-group totals and percentages. And if there aren't, are there any plans to include such features; and if that's also a negative, is there any way anyone could think of to try and get them implemented?

If I'm alone in my thoughts here, fair enough, but I think that these additional features would be very useful.

Well, without knowing what system they use just by looking at it, I can't tell you. It looks like some variation of phpbb, but I could be wrong.

you get the flat numbers, percentages, and a visual indicator in the results shown. I don't know what else you'd be looking for. If you are writing a paper and using the poll for evidence to a thesis, I would imagine you'd have to enter the numbers into a spreadsheet like excel and apply complex statistical analysis to it yourself.

Analysis tools for a forum like this, I would imagine, are likely too niche to be practical from the perspective of the site owners, something to post to the improvements for the escapist thread if you feel strongly about it.

I know it's something easily calculated myself, but that makes it even easier to do digitally. If I use an example, I guess it'd make more sense. In this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.74056] thread I was just asking people about their choice concerning playing Red Alert 3, and I thought it'd be extremely useful if I could group certain choices together. For example, all those choices which represented someone buying the game, all those choices representing a lost sale, and then the rest. Then get totals and percentages for those sub-groups. Like I said, very simple stuff; no complex statistical analysis.

There isn't any academic need to what I'm doing, just plain curiosity, and I thought it'd be nice to have that like extra information. And I can appreciate how these extra features may be too niche to be fully practical, but I think most people would find them at least partially useful.

And considering all the bits and bobs that seem to get added here quite regularly, I don't imagine this would be out of scope for improvement.

Anyway, mark_n_b, you mentioned an 'Improvements to the Escapist' thread, and that's what I was initially looking for, but couldn't find anything. Where would I find it?
