Or have you, like me, completely given up and let the ponies wash over you, consuming you into the herd, so now it takes up almost all your free time and money?
...
Eeyup, this sounds about right, except maybe the part about money. And I still have lots of time for other things too...
... Okay, maybe it's not so much me. But my mind has definitely been ponified utterly and completely: Accidentally reading words differently (e.g. "anyone" as "anypony"), constantly having the songs go through my head, etc...

Got into it around the end of april last year, just over halfway through season 1.
Don't have any merch, and only a few close friends IRL even know about the show (unfortunately, only a couple of which actually enjoy it too). But I've seen every episode at least twice, and every ep in season 1 probably at least 3 times.

Most of the music I listen to now is from the fandom. Not all, I still listen to other music on occasion, but good lord, there really are some seriously talented musicians/artists/etc. in this fandom!

Oh yeah, and I never, ever changed my avatar here on The Escapist from a pic of an F-14 Tomcat (still my computer background, however). Within a couple days of discovering FiM, my avatar changed to the one you see now. ^_^

I'm generally not vocal about it, except at appropriate times like in pony threads like these, or the group chat here (which really is an awesome place to hang out whenever I'm free :D ). But I do enjoy talking about it if there's a legitimate chance to...

I'd say that's probably enough detail for now... Blame the slight rambling on my tiredness, I really need sleep. Will check up on this thread in the morning. :D

it hasn't, least not in anyway i've noticed (since I'm still prone to being a jerk to some one that being a jerk to me)

Well, I was a brony, but I sorta had a falling out with my brony-ness. Still love the show, but I'm not sure I should be called a brony anymore. I'm too...risque and jerkish to be able to be called one. :p

Seriously though, when I found the show, that part of my life was great. I was happy, problems were nonexistent, it was a really great time. I found myself able to get over obstacles with little difficulty. It was a great time and I look back on it fondly. I find myself drawing more because of it as well, to my parents delight (apparently I drew a ton growing up and was rather good, but as I've grown up, I stopped). Hell, I've even gotten to the point where I might want to start my game design career on art. The biggest problem is that I have a computer and internet. I would draw a lot more without internet...

What's to say? It's yet another fun cartoon show for me to watch when I have the time, but it's nowhere near a life-altering experience - at least no more so than other cartoon stuff I get nerdy about. I guess the biggest impact it's had on me is the fact that I frequently find myself hanging out in this site's MLP group chat because the people are nice. A bit loony maybe (sometimes), but nice.

We are a bit loopy sometimes, but...

OT: It's affected me in a big way, I'm much happier now and it's reignited my taste in music. It's also gotten me about 5 more close friends, who I talk to each day. So yeah, I've been positively affected by being a brony.

I've watched most of it over the course of the past few weeks; just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I like it, I think that the characters are good for the most part, there is plenty of humour, though some of it falls a little flat, and its an interesting diversion from the usual things I watch in my spare time. I wouldn't consider myself a Brony though, and I certainly wouldn't reccomend it to anyone- its one of those things that you probably won't like if you don't end up finding it yourself. That and I don't want any of my peers at school finding out I watch it.

And I'm really glad it exists, there really are not too many shows aimed at kids with interesting and positive female role models. Or in all of entertainment.
This is basically the other reason why I think its a good thing.

I hate it. I never even watched it (except that horrible intro song) and I still hate it. I guess actual fans of the show are drowned by the "LULZ BRONIES WE SO SPECIAL WE LOVE & TOLERATE YOU FOREVER".
As a fan, I'll just say it took me a season and a half before I could even sit through the damn intro song. It's sickeningly girly. Also, I'm not asking you to watch it, but I'd just like to point out you look a little judgmental saying you hate it when you admit to not watching it. Again, I'm not saying you should watch it, I'm not THAT kind of fan, just that it's kinda' a d*ck move.
OT: Up until a few months ago I was planning to take A-Level Science and Maths, which I was good at I guess, but I wasn't passionate about it. I'd always loved animating, and when I discovered the show it rekindled my love for cartoons and kid's shows and changed my college course to fit a career in animation.
Also, I'm barely ever angry or upset anymore.

I agree, like the author of a fanfic I saw today. It's called "Nicholas Cage's Adventures in Equestria". Let's just say I read it, and had a BIG laugh.

The intro theme is rather horrible, true. However, you're saying this all as an ignorant buffoon. I can understand disliking the fans, they're rather eccentric at times, but you won't even try out the show to see if you're right or not? Are you scared you'll be wrong? How would you like it if I said I hated something you liked without even trying it out (on the grounds that we were rather good friends)? You'd want me to try it out, no? All I've really seen from bronies is the want for someone to educate themselves of the show before casting judgement.

Captcha: How quaint

Seems that Captcha agrees.

Fair enough, maybe I'm a bit rude, but still.. All those fans, and I don't mean FANS, I mean crazy obsessed people who have to shove their ponies down my throat so hard I start having nightmares about them... just gets to me. I can't watch it without thinking about all those "fans", and that spoils the whole experience.
Totally agree, THOSE kind of fans give the rest of us, the silent majority as it were, a bad name.

Here we have an example of why I'll never understand bronies and maintain a distance of at least 30 feet at all times.

You people scare me a little.

It happened, it was a thing, and in the end I didn't care. I did sort of hate the show for a bit, but then I realized that nothing is going to change if I have some near-pointless hate for a group that seems harmless and is dedicated to what it's doing.

It's a music term: "a group of (typically three or more) notes sounded together, as a basis of harmony." However much you like Adventure Time, the show did not hit you with a rope. Not even if you're into that sort of thing.

Oh, a new page. My, this thread is growing rather quickly. I wonder if that's a good thing.

I suppose I should add that the show has rekindled my interest in drawing, as well as getting me interested in animation. I'm planning on taking some animation classes thanks to the show, so I guess it has affected my life in some way.

Ah, yes. Those fans. They might be numerous, but they are by far the minority. You shouldn't let that affect your entire opinion on the show. I'm not saying you will definitely enjoy it, the shows not for everyone, but i think its always best to have an educated opinion on the matter, eh?

Yes, those loud obnoxious fans annoy the rest of us just as much as they annoy you.

Also, it took a good while for me to get used to the intro theme. It's by far the girliest bit of the show.

Its a good thing as long as it stays cordial, which it has so far.

Edit: I apologize for the double post.

You should be apologizing for that pun...

I'd rather not. I remember a time when no one accepted that term, and anyone who used it would be quickly informed that "brony" is a gender-neutral word. I miss those days.

I kind of wish I hadn't watched the episodes so many times. Watched every episode in both seasons at least 3 times each (more for the really good ones) so I'm kind of burned out on the existing episodes. It's gonna be a long wait for season 3.

At least the brony community puts out quality fan work on a regular basis. That will have to do while I wait. I have already read all the way through Fallout: Equestria.
