This is very off topic, but I remember seeing a post of your's saying that you wrote "Cupcakes". Just want to know, is that true? Are you really Sergeant Sprinkles?

I'm a huge fan of MLP. I won't say it's really changed my life (because it hasn't), but it's definitely my favorite currently-running show on TV right now.

As much as I like the show itself, I'd say that the fandom is what really keeps me hooked. There's just so much creativity on display there. There really is something for everyone. You like fanfiction? There's novels worth of fanfiction. You like funny meme images? There's enough to keep you browsing for days. There's brony artists, brony musicians, brony-everything, really.

MLP is really the first time in my life where I can call myself a legitimate "fan", rather than someone who just really, really likes something. And I guess that's why I consider myself a brony. Because MLP is my Star Trek.

...not sure if I would go to a convention for it, though.

Meh, the show is alright if a little bland. The brony phenomenon used to make me angry with its ridiculous frequency and obnoxiousness but now that people merely seem to like it like any other show rather than taking a moral high ground about gender identities or praising it as the second coming of christ it's all good.

It has also provided many involuntary lulz through all the drama:
That... is that a real thing...? I hope to god that it's merely a straight up spoof of Sonichu as opposed to someone taking it seriously.

OT: Whelp, I've watched it in almost its entirety. Was pretty good to watch from time to time and honestly the group is a bunch of goofballs so that's pretty fun to watch unfold sometimes. Honestly though, it is the fanmade stuff that kinda made me stick around for as long as I have. There's a LOT of stuff to wade through, but when you find some of the good things they're actually pretty damn funny.

So how have ponies affected your life? Have you held the line, staying pony free? Or have you, like me, completely given up and let the ponies wash over you, consuming you into the herd, so now it takes up almost all your free time and money?
Here we have an example of why I'll never understand bronies and maintain a distance of at least 30 feet at all times.

You people scare me a little.
I watched the pilot, it was not bad but not worth my time.

What the fuck is so great about this show? Yeah, it's funny, from time to time. A good 75% of the time it's god awful 5 year old pandering.
And that's what wrong with the brony community. It's a neat show, and I think it's gravy that you like it.But a 36 year old friend of mine stood in line for two hours to get the autograph of a lady who did a voice for the show, a show made for preteen girls.

The general lack of understanding of what the brony community worships is why we nerds can't have nice things.
Was it Tara Strong? She's been in a TON of stuff, including a plethora of video games. I'd like up for her autograph.

Thankfully no, but that's largely irrelevant considering CWC is teh orignal Brwnie guise! (Obvious sarcasm is obvious.)

How do you remember a post from what must have been nearly a year ago?

*sigh* I would have fun with this, but no. I didn't write Cupcakes. Although I like it.

When I first heard about the show through my Twitter feed, my thinking was basically "this is going to be a 'thing', isn't it? I'd best ignore it." But a few Dragon Age ponies later, and some more talk about MLP and bronies on Twitter, I eventually found myself with nothing better to do than to look the show up on YouTube. I watched about half an episode before I decided to get some sleep instead.

A week or so later I decided to continue where I left off... which was then followed by another episode... and quite possibly a third. And within a week or so I'd finished season 1.

It makes sense, really. I've had a thing for strong female protagonists for most of my life (thanks in no small part to Ellen Ripley and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind), and I've also been slowly growing into actively defying gender roles for the better part of the last decade. When the common explanation for a male rolling a female character in a video game tends to be the desire to "look at something pleasant", I'll just openly admit that it's easier for me to connect emotionally with a female protagonist.

Wait... what was the thread about, again?

Well, I don't think the lack of new episodes in the coming months will be much of a problem. I have plenty of other shows. I'm more worried about that the show might be canceled prematurely after season 3. For the wait, I have plenty of other shows to watch, including the also very much friendship-oriented Community and Kamen Rider Fourze.

And, hey, My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic should be just around the corner, right?

While I'm reassured that pic wasn't super serious, I'm slightly sickened of whatever the hell that video was. S'cuse me for a bit while I go attempt to induce amnesia.

Watched it, didn't really like it (take THAT MLP FiM fans, bronies sounds lame) animation was good though. I vastly prefer Adventure Time, It's simply ALGEBRAIC?!

This thread may go down the hateful path and when it does, i will have the popcorn ready for sharing.

If it does go down a hateful path, we all owe our dear Princess Celestia a letter.

It was a discouragingly successful brony trolling attempt playing off the fact that:

Yeah... its that guy...
At least you know about him so I didn't have to link you to the goddamn wiki. It's still a little upsetting that the video was such a success considering it exists just to make mlp fans mad.

Indeed.

It's a show about ponies.

That's the beginning and end of that story, there's no hidden meaning.

Oh, new page. Escapist MLP user group link:

I recommend that anyone who joins uncheck the "Chat Notifications" option when prompted, as the group chat tends to be quite active.

Same here. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting to finally turn fanboy over a little girls' cartoon, but whatever. Happiness is where you find it, right?

For what it's worth, the pilot isn't very representative of the majority of the show, since it had to include so much exposition. Most people will tell you that they weren't hooked until a couple more episodes into the season.
