Ponies? What? What is this?

Um... yes? Honestly, I don't know enough about the "Pony thread cycle" to derail it. I'm just here for the pretty/funny pictures.

Maybe a sandwich, but I doubt I'll get that.

1. People question why people enjoy the show.
2. Fans either try to explain or tell them to watch it and find out.
3. Some of the people who were asking about it become fans, others lose interest in the thread.
4. A small number of non-fans remain, either trolling or just being obnoxious.
5. Fans keep trying to explain what's good about the show.
6. Unlikable people persist.
7. Fans give up and just start posting pony pictures.
8. Eventually the thread dies.
9. New thread is created, go back to 1.
No sandwich for you not knowing the pony cycle!

Don't take this a pretentious suggestion, but what the hell is this crap about ponies and children's cartoons? My friend came to me yesterday suggesting that I watched this and attempted to enjoy it. Curiously enough, I set down and attempted to view an episode as I earlier promised... Didn't even make it past the opening.

So, what, is this a new meme, am I late to the party? I really don't see what is so great about this. Help thy, for I may be lost and need enlightenment.

Edit: Well heck, I forgot to mention the most important part(Even though you probably already knew), I'm talking about that My Little Ponies cartoon.

The show is genuinely good. It's Lauren Faust, one of the few people who still know how to make a good cartoon with appeal to all ages. It has all of the necessary things for a children's cartoon, but also includes a lot of snarkier humour, a lot of pop-culture parody, and a lot of downright adult jokes. And when the show does leverage the cuteness, it's always with a wink and a nod, taking things to such extremes that it becomes a parody of itself.

It's very reminiscent of the more adult-minded children's cartoons of the 90s.

We're not the ones making the threads, were trying to keep discussion to the user group. We like the show, but I think we're inspired to have pony avatars and picture jokes just because of the meme. Its pretty much as good as powerpuff girls, but you don't see those avatars everywhere. I've had a pony avatar before the show too, and thats because escapist liked ponies before it was cool.

There are always fandom like this one. They just don't all get mentioned on the sites you visit. I can't think of one I have joined.
