So...wait...they replaced all the voice actors?

No, the show's VA's are still there, they just gave top billing to the guest celebrities. Yeah, it's weird, even though I can understand it's due to marketing reasons. I suppose Hasbro thinks names like Tara Strong, Aleisha Ball, Andrea Libman and Tabitha St. Germain won't get as much draw as Sia and Emily Blunt.

Anyways, I'm trying not to be too enthusiastic, but only because I don't want to be in agony waiting until October 7th. I haven't watched every new pony episode that came out, but the biggest appeal for me is the characters and the world of the show, and I'm still a big fan of them.
It's going to be odd seeing everyone suddenly talking about My Little Pony this October. I trust the crew behind this, but considering other recent animated movies based on toys and games, I hope this movie is at least more watchable than Angry Birds. If they're lucky, they might even be better than Trolls.
I'm really hoping for at least average, because this could be the only good non-anime 2D animated film we're ever going to get in a while.

I just hope they do the FiM name justice. The show's been hemorrhaging some of their best writers over the past few years, and I'd be lying if I didn't say that I felt season 6 missed the mark on a few occasions.

I kinda hope there isn't a lot of 'brony-bait' in it - lord knows there was enough of that in season 6, which made for a lot of really weak episodes.

Just stick to the characters we know and love, guys, leave the memes to the Powerpuff Girls.

I'll be honest, I don't remember much from season 6 either (was an oddly forgettable season) but a lot of the jokes felt like they were more aimed at bronies than at kids, and there seemed to be more brony fanbait going on in the background. Plus there was that 'Discord DnD' episode...

Like, there's always been shout-outs to the bronies which is fine, it just felt like this season there was too much of it. Maybe it was exacerbated by the weaker writing, I dunno, but it all felt less like 'here's a nice little thing for the older fans' and more 'HELL YEAH EQUESTRIADAILY HERE WE COME', which made it a little jarring to see.

Bruh, I never said I hated it, I just said it felt like they were doing too much fanservice this season, and that it was a weaker season than usual, which here means it was a solid 7/10 instead of the standard 8/10. It was just... well, also oddly forgettable for some reason, really only remember the first two episodes and the last two.

...And the Discord DnD one, but that's because I didn't like it. 'S weird how that works.
