Title effectively says it all? Any anime that you enjoyed that most people don't?

Personally, (although iv'e only seen a few)here are mine:

Sword Art Online. Loaded with flaws but fun to watch anyway.

and God have mercy... School Days.
The first two thirds were absolute garbage even I'll admit. but the way the show ended, (not just sekai's revenge) made the whole show suck significantly less. It was still poorly written garbage, but it was FUN poorly written garbage, where you could enjoy the show merely by screaming obscenities at the characters.

So, Your thoughts fellow escapists?

School days wasn't bad just average. To me it was kinda of a "what if a normal human being had a harem".

Girls Bravo

Watching it is like masturbation really, you have to close the door, keep your labtop aimed in the exact opposite direction, and use headphones.

Highschool of the Dead

Not that I've seen many reviews of this show, but it's generally seen as ridiculously stupid fanservice. Which it is, but I can't help still liking it. It's just a fun zombie show with boobs... and I'm fine with that. :)

Lets see...

Enjoyed for the wrong reasons:
Mars of Destruction
School Days
Blood-C
Garzy's Wing
Gyo

Legitimately Enjoyed:
Aku no Hana (yeah, that's right)
Guilty Crown
Kite
Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Dance in the Vampire Bund (Haven't read the manga, so maybe that's it)
Maria Holic
Sasami-san@Ganbaranai
Black Rock Shooter (Both OVA and TV show)
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette
School Days (I put it on this list, too, because there are some things about it I legitimately like.)

Pretty much this. Who doesn't like stuff with zombies, guns and boobs?

I'm gonna go look up some reviews for it now.

As far as I know, SA:O didn't receive bad reviews per se, just mixed ones and it's got a very polarised response from anime fans... *shrug*

I'm sorry, but how can you enjoy Blood C for the wrong reasons?! o_O' (not meaning to be antagonistic, I'm legitimately surprised and curious).

OT:

As with Casual Shinji... High School of the Dead... it's trashy, almost pure fan service with a faint smattering of RPG and zombies, but damnit I'm in love with Miyuki Sawashiro's sexy voice!

Again, though, HSotD got more mixed reviews than bad ones, as it was praised for... well, various things I can't recall, 'cos all I've got in my head is...

Well, first off, the violence is so over-the-top gruesome that I find it quite funny. Also, Saya's kind of an idiot, and I find it funny how inept she is at protecting people. That, and the story for the first ten episodes is such an incoherent mess that I'm not sure if the last 2 episodes makes up for them or not.

It's one of those shows where once it ends, I laugh to myself and go "What the fuck was that?"

Also, animated zombies just work! Animated violence in general has the benefit of being unrestrained - just look at Bakshi's Fire and Ice - and with zombies it's a match made in heaven. Makes you wonder why nobody ever made a big animated zombie action show before.

And you enjoyed that?! You weird person, you! =P (Yes, I watched it and thought it was utter crap, even including the last two eps, the film was way better, if still very disjointed. To me, the best thing about the series was the first five seconds of the OP's instrumental.)

I take it you were more amused by the complete mishandling of the series than for anything of the series itself...? *shrug*

Just to be clear, these "poorly reviewed anime" are just more of "some internet person I know who really dislike that anime"-

Final Fantasy Unlimited. Despite the flaws it has (I just like the references to the game).

Panty and Stocking With Ganterbelt. Sure some of the episode were a missed but most of us know how awesome that anime is unlike some abridger I know.

School Days was badly reviewed? Really? I liked that series. Then again I may have a thing for poorly justified murder in anime. It's the same way I liked Higurashi but Higurashi is much more well written and has better moider :3

I loved Another as well. Final Destination in anime form but y'know with good characters and a decent mystery story. MORE HILARIOUS DEATHS PLS!

Oh and fucking Needless. NEEDLESS! NOBODY ever posts on it in any anime thread unless it's me and it just never gets any attention. It's massively fanservice-y, manly, battle series with some surprisingly intelligent battle scenes. EPISODE 14 BAYBEE! BEST MAIN CHARACTER EVER!

Oh and the soundtrack is like 20 different guitar solos. Awesome.

It's such a generic battle anime but it gives no fucks and goes all out in the wacky fun direction. I can't help but love it.

Oh and the ENDING animation. It's so... Unique? Memorable. Definitely memorable...

OT: Not really sure, but I did like Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru when there seems to be lukewarm reviews for it. It isn't terrible nor is it that good imo, but it was fun for me

Kinda, it isn't really any more erotic then any other harem it is just....bad...

I mean most harems have like a niche or something to them so where there was a reason to keep watching other then the boobs

School days: Main protagonist was an asshole/realistic person
Shuffle!: Main Protagonist is forced into a choice, after the girls start trying to murder each other.
Love Hina: Set the standard for harems.

Heaven's Lost Property isn't exactly winning any awards and a lot of people tend to rip it to shreds because of its subject matter. But I find it refreshing to finally see a boy who would act like a boy in that situation instead of an upstanding gentleman like so many other harem comedies.

I like Strike Witches too, which also gets a bad rep because it's 'child porn.'

Man this is tough as when it comes to anime, reviews can get really subjective, especially as people only tend to review on the big sites like animelist and ANN if they enjoyed them.

I guess for me School Days would also be a primary choice, and most reviewers really did hate this show, and personally I loved it. Yes it's full of melodrama, but it brought a lot of tension that left me eager to watch the next episode. Also I knew nothing of this show before going in, and as such didn't have anything spoiled for me at all. The ending shocked me so much I couldn't stop replaying it in my head the next day (I think it was also the first truly violent act I had seen in anime).

Master of Martial Hearts I also enjoyed because of the ending, not in spite of it. Most I've seen have said the ending ruined it, but for me the twist was so ridiculous at least it stopped it from being repetitive and boring.

Yosuga no Sora makes this list too, although most who reviewed it had issue with its controversial subject matter.
the fact that the incest relationship was played straight, along with somewhat realistic consequences made this show a lot more interesting and memorable than any of the earlier arcs (though watching a young protagonist get raped by a girl is also hard to forget).

Aside from these, there's a lot of school comedies considered mediocre that I liked, including MM!, OniAi, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, Mayo Chiki! etc.

Try Blood+. Can't promise it is better (It starts off slower than molasses) but at least it makes sense in universe, and once Saya gets back into badass mode, it gets really fun.

Also, ever seen a 7 foot tall scientific abomination get completely annihilated with a cello case? It's got that too.
Got, but only half-watched. Haji seemed a cool character, and Saya (so far, at least) seemed rather... dry... :/

There seems to be a dearth of decent vampire anime on the evidence so far...

Well, I hear some people didn't like Gurren Lagann...

But really I haven't watched much anime so most of the stuff I have given a shot I do because it gets a lot of praise. Doing some research, turns out I watched Tales from Earthsea when I was younger, and fuck it, I thought it was really good. Not a Miyazaki best but I enjoyed it.
