Popular games everyone loves but you cant understand how its so popular

When i just had a ps3 my friends bragged about fable 1 and 2. I finally got a 360 and started playing popular xbox games and most met my expectations but then came fable. People talked about how immersive and large andfun this game was. This in my opinion is one of the worst RPGs ever designed. I loved lionhearts work in black and white but this game is pure trash. It holds no depth fighting is boring and my character has a quick ageing problem.

Thats the first fable however then on to fable 2 which i bought for $5 dolars. Allthough the story and general game is improved it is still bad. The games pretty easy it wasnt until halfway through the game that i died thats when i figured out that If you die there is no consquence other than a scar so why bother trying if youll always win.My character looks wierd for some reason no matter what clothes i give him he always looks wierd. Ai is broken One minute a girl loves me the next she is shooting me for robbing a house as part of a mission.Its just so easy to do anything except for money well until you reach the arena.

Point being is there a game you cant understand why is so popular?

I don't think you'll find much love for the Fables here, to be honest. :/

Personally, nothing really springs to mind at the moment. Generally I've loved most of the games I've played, and the ones I haven't just weren't the style I like.

It's gotta be Halo for me. not just Halo, but 2, 3 and all the spin offs. I just can't see what is so popular about it, but then again, 13 year olds are attracted by bright colours, hence the most retarded armor in the history of the military was born.

In other news, I can't for the life of me get into the original Dues Ex, but whatever, no need to say it all sucks and it's a broken game when I'd be talking out my arse about it.

And I think we all forget the fun times we had with Halo, the community just got really bad when it got popular, but the first one was pretty good in my opinion

I played enjoyed the game but I never understand why people praise the game so damn much.

Yes it it, but it does it well. Thats the funny part, we who like cod 6 will never argue that it isn't generic, we just like to play it because it is a fairly decent modern fps, with a fun, if laggy, multiplayer.

I'll jump on the bandwagon early and go with Call of duty, specifically the "Modern Warfare"s.
I kinda liked the campaigns, but everyone says the multiplayer's where it's at.
Maybe it's because I suck at it, but it just doesn't seem worth playing. Going up against these people with better guns and laser sights and stuff with my teeny little pea shooter is just way too frustrating.

I think most of the people enjoy the Final Fantasy games for the story rather than gameplay.
I'm probably wrong about the majority, but that's what I've noticed.

Just remembered; LittleBigPlanet. Again, it was probably because I sucked at it, but I just couldn't make anything half decent in my levels. And everyone's online levels sucked just as much.
On top of that, I don't remember ever hearing anyone say anything bad about it. Except for Yahtzee, but he says bad things about everything, so doesn't really count.

Bioshock, yes the atmosphere was nice, but the gameplay was shit. Since when does atmosphere excuse horrible gameplay?

Mega Man games.

It doesn't seem desgined to give the player a fun experience, it just wants you to die.

Walking the fine line between healthy challenge and BattleToads is never a good thing.

Bioshock, hated the demo and rented the game..still hated it. I just don't like anything about the game. Not one redeeming feature for me sorry

MW2 and Halo are on the high sales they are on only because of the multiplayer. It is not balanced multiplayer, Halo 3 has some very fast vechiles that can be extremely frustrating to try to take out without tracking ability of a hawk, and MW2... well... snipers, noobtubes (without penalty), air support, nukes... take your pick. However, both of them are popular because how much it rewards the player for the kills. In halo, rising through the level means new fancy armor you get to show off, in MW2, every kill gives you points. Doesn't matter how skilled the kill was, 5 points in most mode per kill. Since these points go to new fancy weapons and perks, people want them all. Once you gotten them all? You get to do that all over again just for one symbol next to your name.

When I play them, I just feel...lost. I just don't know what to do. I've enjoyed games such as Civilization 4, but this just didn't catch me.

It probably just because I suck at it.
