Well, from what I've read this seems to be the general consensus, hell, even Penny Arcade [http://www.penny-arcade.com/2010/11/8/] thinks that the move is way more technologically impressive. Sure you can write a bunch of neat software for the Kinect. But as far as hardware goes, the move takes it.
Then they spend the next several days going gaga over the Kinect. I was under the very distinct impression they enjoyed it more than the Move.

OT: Well, the Kinect seems to be failing really bad abroad and the Wii is already strong and staying strong. I guess Sony gets the newcomers to motion control seeing as they have the money to buy favourable reviews like this one better tactile feedback. That and PS3 owners seem to be a bit more willing to spend money. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOHqG1nc_tw&feature=related]
The Kinect failing abroad is counter-balanced by the nobody buying the Move.

(Before anyone spouts off Sony's line, remember Sony's definition of "units" sold is anything related to the Move, including Move-compatible games.)

Oh my lawdy did I sense some butthurt reading over some of these comments.

OT: I don't care. I just really, really don't. I'll never buy a motion system, ever. Neither Sony nor Microsoft nor Nintendo. No motion for me. Ever.

I think they picked move because the controller has more tactile feedback than Kinect. But who knows.
Anyone remember that thing called Wii MotionPlus?!
Hey I've got one of those!... the move is better. The more expensive internals, the far better processing power of the host and the proper, higher resolution camera (as opposed to a tiny resolution IR camera that has no means of sensing depth)make a difference.

Some WiiM+ game reviews comment on how much tighter the controls are now with the clunky add-on.
A lot of move game reviews complain that the games are over-accurate representations and fall foul of expecting players to have a proper sense of depth to match the controller. while looking at a 2D image It seems Sony may be right and a 3D screen is needed to get the best from the PS3 after all.

Both the wii and the move are spatially aware mice not really motion controllers, unlike the Kinect.

The problem for Kinect is that no-one knows what it can be used for and as it stands using it for the same sorts of controls as a move or WiiM+ is a pretty poor experience. The Kinetic is a marvel of modern technology (it really is cutting edge despite it's price) but ultimately it's a technology that both needs a lot of improvement and as a concept isn't understood well enough to be exploited.

Sounds about right to me. As far as tech goes Kinect is more impressive, but when it comes to gaming the Move is a ton better.

You say that now... But if you have a wife that does NOT like games, but something like the kinect makes her want to start playing.... you would buy it. Trust me. :)

I am not a fan of the motion based stuff, either, but if this gets my wife into gaming a little bit, I am sold.

This is simple economics people! Why target a niche when you can go mainstream?
Because what people want isn't necessarily what is the best for them.
And the corporate powers that be want what's best for the people?
In the long run, that is what is most profitable.
Yes, but what do people in the financial sector look at?

The short term.

I consider all three to be 'kid's stuff' right now. And until I get some kind of RPG or RTS that utilises them in an intuitive and/or immersive way, that opinion is not going to change.

I'm not saying they can't be fun, of course. The only reason I don't already own a Move is because I'm irrationally prejudiced against the ugly retro look.

Point of the article: Practicality over Potential.

Everything done with Kinect that is interesting is based on external innovations not utilized for video games, and I don't know about anyone else, but that is what I use my Xbox 360 for! While I am not a fan of any of the motion devices, Kinect is quite underwhelming in my perspective considering a very lacking release of games out the gate, combined with limited future games to justify jumping on board. The Move is also, in my view, not a show-stopper either. However, I have to acknowledge its applicability towards more advanced games.

I will take Killzone 3 over Kinectimals any day. The inherent problem with all three motion controlled devices on the market now is that they generally are targeted to a set demographic without enough deviation to entice those uninterested in a game library flooded with shovelware and gimmick exploiters.

I'm not talking in terms of success, merely hardware capabilities. There may well be better games for the Kinect.

Till the Move gets some more games the Wii will stay my favorite Motion control system. The Kinect neither has any good games going for it, nor is my room big enough or the movement recognition good enough.

Err... What? Is Kinect supposed to be the better choice?!?!

Kinect is a joke. It's a gimmick.
Kinect is a joke. In my opinion all motion controls are a joke. Thats why I find it humorous to call any type of motion controls "for the hard core."

Two articles in one day about Sony and Micro$oft slinging shit at each others' motion controls.
No coincidence there.
