Porn, what's your opinion?

What a bizzare topic...anyway my opinion is that as long it's legal I have no beef with it...To remain tasteful I'll leave it at that.
I enjoy porn, but I don't watch it that often, I generally go for hentai. Yes, I am quite aware I'm going to hell, thank you.
I'll be honest, I'm conflicted about it.
On the one hand the moralist in me fears that the widespread availability, often depicting absolutely unrealistic situations or outright misogynistic (not to mention abusive) situations may be causing major damage to the image or beliefs about women - both by men and other women - is in fact harmful.
A lesser known example that could be argued to be evidence of this is the rise in female genital plastic surgery.... or in my mind its existence at all.
I have watched and enjoyed porn, however, so the part of me that doesn't like being a hypocrite promptly tells the moralist to shut the fuck up and go look at some boobs.

I have to say hentai weirds me out a bit but it's not like I'm forced to watch it and there aren't any real victims so it doesn't bother me.
Some American porn can be pretty awful too, I don't understand why people have to talk so much during sex.

I'm all for porn, I just have one problem with it - why is it so hard to find a cameraman who can hold a goddamn camera steady for five seconds without whooshing over here, turning back there, zooming in, zooming out and just generally acting like a fly caught in a hurricane?
I guess it's okay, as long as they both consent. I mean, whatever people want to do with themselves... I don't personally watch it that much.

It serves its purpose and is a thriving industry and employs people so I don't see why it shouldn't continue.. although I do have a bit of beef with some things such as slave or pain fetishes (BDSM), but considering they're all consenting adults I can't see much of a problem other than people will try to copy it on unsuspecting partners, but thats a long shot..

I mean - on the basest level - porn is simultaneously pure masculine driven escapism, much like, say, brothels and action movies, while being a gross example of human degradation and exploitation, much like.....well.....brothels and action movies.
Porn is the lowest common denominator of entertainment, and despite the various opinions about the destruction of the feminine image, the death of basic human decency etc. it has been, and always will be, a form of entertainment designed to make money.
I mean...the media marketing adage is basically 'sex sells', and so porn will always sell.
Personally - I'm not a great fan of porn.
Perhaps I should do some more research into the subject...see if my opinion changes.

I have nothing against it. Though yes, I do watch it occasionally. Not that often, though. I think watching it is normal. Everyone needs to please their sexual desires every now and then.
