For the love of GLaDOS, please do not turn this into an action game. Portal is a puzzle game. Please leave it a puzzle game...

Crap, you're going to turn it into an action game aren't you?

... damnit.
They still dont have guns, they are just two robots that think for themselfs (probably) and that have portal guns attached to their arms

You know, at first I hated the idea of a sequel to Portal. It was one of those games that it was fine as it was and it could just stop right there.

But all of this info has actually got me excited for how this will turn out. Cool.

That sounds pretty badass, the only thing I wonder is how long will "full length" be. I'd feel apprehensive if it turned out to be 10+ hours long, that's a lot of physics.

Will it have online co-op? I haven't read the scans, since I want to wait for the actual issue to get to my house.

Also, online multiplayer would be cool, you have to kill each other by placing portals over like, lava and then get an enemy to step into them. Or, four player co-op.
Just read the scans rather than clogging the thread with questions it answers.
Yes, there is online co-op. With picture-in-picture and icon-marking so you can communicate easily.

On the co-op front, you and a friend will be able to play as one of two robots, one made out of a turret, and one made out of a personality core,
Well Yahtzee nailed this one when he reviewed Bioshock 2:

"It would be like a sequel to Half-Life where you get to play as a gun turret"

I guess I should get around to playing portal at some point.

So wait, what about Chell getting dragged off?
What happened to that?
I dunno, maybe they're trying to keep it fresh here and set it hundreds of years away so it's not questioned why Chell isn't there, and we'll learn more about Chell in HL2:Episode 3, whenever it comes out (Episode 3 looks like it's heading down the Duke Nukem Forever Path though.)
DON'T SAY THOSE WORDS

Also, hunderds of years after and it's still there meanst that we can at least positive the Combine haven't blown earth up or anything.
We never knew where portal was set in the HL universe, so maybe hundreds of years in the future for portal is when HL2 happens?
That's logically impossible.
Half Life occurred at some point in the 2000's, and characters from the original Half Life are still alive, and considering what Alyx says about her being a little girl when the Black Mesa incident occurred, HL2 most likely takes place 10 or so years later. So hundreds of years ago, Aperture Science didn't even exist and neither did their technology.
Also, Ekonk, who knows, maybe the Combine did?
Not blow up the entire Earth, I mean, considering that Aperture Labs is underground and quite well fortified, it might be able serve as a Nuclear bomb shelter, which might have been just what the Combine did: Turn Earth into a wasteland, which is just the same, is it not?

Portal was popular because it was something new and innovative, and because it was short and sweet. Having a 15+ hour sequel with the exact same type of gameplay is gonna murder my will to live.

C'mon, more new original licences instead please.
Implying a game with co-op where the original had none is "the exact same type of gameplay" is not only mind-boggling but intellectually dishonest. I call it the "Super Mario Bros. Wii Strawman" argument.

Also really after the runaway success of L4D2 I think telling Valve they need more original licenses is like telling Microsoft they need to stop relying on Windows so much.

It's amazing how many people have forgotten that Valve doesn't just churn out sequels (L4D2 even had significant improvements, and very few people who liked the first hated the second). Portal 2 will be one of the best games ever created. There is no reason to assume differently. The core experience is true to the first, what with the humor and devious puzzles, as well as the atmosphere created by GLaDOS, while there will be massive improvements, such as variety of location, longer storyline, an additional standalone co op storyline involving even harder puzzles, and an overall more polished experience, given how huge the development team is this time. Don't go crying over how Valve will ruin Portal just yet. I for one will be at the front of the line ready to have a slice of that delicious pie. (thought I was gonna say, cake, didn't you?)

I think that this could be a triumph....

Anyway, hundreds of years after? Then what happened to Chelle (or however you spell it)?
Well, the end of Portal strongly implied that she was out of the facility, but kind of dead.

EDIT: But didn't GLADOS say that she had Chells brain scanned and permanently backed up in case something terrible happened to her?
At the new ending of the first Portal, Chell gets dragged away, so maybe she's Still Alive, got healed and conserved in some kind of Cryogenic chamber, or they used her DNA to build a new body and uploaded the backup of her brain to it. Possibly that method was used to create several new test subjects over the hundreds of years that passed, possibly failed on most of them, until the newest one you get to play in Portal 2 (which may be a perfect copy of the original, beating GlaDOS again).

How exactly is that co-op thing supposed to work? Are we required to hook uo with some stranger from the internet, or even worse, to invite a friend over?
That worries me too :/

Hopefully, the co-op mode will just be extra maps without story like the advanced challenge maps, otherwise that will be really frustrating (because my rl friends aren't that good at videogames, so we'd never make it to the end).

First of all, this sounds awesome.

Secondly, just because the single player game is set hundreds of years later doesn't mean Cell isn't the main character. She could have been dragged back to the stasis pod and frozen.

Thirdly, I really didn't see this coming. Hundreds of years later? Now that's very interesting. Could mean the environment is completely different.

And finally, those Robots are really, really cute!

EDIT: If you want to find the scans type "Portal 2 Scans" into Google and choose the Game trailers link. It looks amazing.

I'm looking forward to it, but hoping it's not gonna be like what Bioshock 2 was to Bioshock 1. In other words, the sequel trying to survive off the success of the original. We shall see
