So were you guys happy with the ending, I thought the whole space thing was awesome and when I shot at the moon a half-exected it to not work. I sort of wanted to save wheatly though. The space core was wicked funny though, and i loved the fact that a burned companion cube came up at the end. Then it got another catchy song, not as good as still alive but still awesome. So what ending did you like more portal or portal 2.

I like Portal 2's ending more. Especially with the WTF turrets going up the shaft.

And the end song is better imo.

I really wanted to save Wheatly too, but if you did the ending wouldn't be bittersweet; and Valve CAN'T have that now can they?

It was only until after the credits I realized how exactly that whole moon shot worked. Apparently the conversion gel was made up of moon particles that worked as an excellent portal surface. Was pretty epic because it was so unexpected.

I remember as I was traveling up the elevator and those turrets aimed at me I said "Oh Glados you betraying *****." Then they started to sing, and then all of them performed an opera piece which was beautiful. But the companion cube at the end was a fitting goodbye. Almost like it was begrudgedly saying, "FINE, HERE'S YOUR FUCKING COMPANION CUBE NOW GO AWAY!"

Excellent ending, one of my favourites of all time.

I thought the ending was quite excellent. The entire final boss battle was much more entertaining than the one from the first game.

Did anyone else think it looked like Chell could walk a couple yards and get to the first point in Dustbowl?

Probably my favorite happy ending ever, or at least I can't think of a better one off the top of my head. The way you didn't get double crossed really shocked the heck out of me and was just as good as any more complicated plot twist you'd see in another game. Having Glados save my life and then let me go is still hard to believe, while being pretty hilarious that it was the most reasonable solution.

I was shooting Wheatly with portals for fun and couldn't figure out why I had almost immediately finished him off. Then it hit me that I hit the moon with a portal. I beat 2 - 3 other puzzles without trying this way, hehe.

I liked the P1 song better, but the P2 song wasn't bad. The singing sentries was also amusing; I thought they were going to shoot me.

I half expected the outside to end up being virtual reality. Like a room designed to look like she was outside. I was waiting for a panel to flicker and give it away, but I guess it was real. I figured this would be an easy way to allow them to make a third Portal; "here, you're free! Hah-hah-hah, just kidding. Time to test!"
The companion cube at the end was actually THEE companion cube from the first Portal. The other ones you saw in P2 weren't the same.

I really wanted to save Wheatly... even though he wanted to kill you he wasn't particularly good at it.

The parallel with Promtheus was not unnoticed. The ending was great and the only part I have questions about is the fields of wheat on the surface.

1. At the end of Portal 1, we see a parking lot surrounded by a lush, green landscape, covered in trees. At the end of 2, we're in Ohioan wheat fields. Yes, it's a massive facility, but I didn't get the sense that we traveled very far horizontally, only vertically. Plus we wound up in GLaDoS' chamber again, so the elevator up should have brought us back to the same parking lot.

2. We're pretty much certain that the combine get a full defeat at then end of Episode 3, but this seems to promise us that the earth gets back to normal. Earth is lookin' pretty good now, with blue skies and abundant grain. This could also mean that North America is largely untouched by the Combine, as HL2 is in Europe somewhere.

your definitely correct on combine being in Europe somewhere, but portal DOES take place somewhere across the sea from the combine place, and both are in the same universe.
But in the beginning of portal 2, it is established that you have been asleep for longer then you should have, the tv says you've been out for 99999, but this could mean days, months, or years, but the main thing is, its long enough of time for the whole facilities outside to be covered up.
Oh, thoughts on ending, thought the turrent singing was because I saved that one turrent from death, the one on the conveyor, but guess not, didn't want to save wheatly, saying I was only good at jumping, screw him, I'm proud of my jumping, and puzzle skills. Still loved the way you beat wheatly, its much funnier then the way you did defeated glados. The thought that you shoot a PORTAL TO THE MOON is just ASTOUNDING!! And the first person camera angle at that part was EPIC!!!

How are you going to carry the C Cube without the Portal Gun? That thing sounded heavy when it fell out the door.

The first time, it was a landscaped parking lot, not to mention the fact that the Center is constantly shifting and changing. And the giant time lapse. This could be a 'humans died, Earth moves on' situation. The Combine might have won and eventually left, or (my personal guess) is that both sides suffered too much- the Combine left while they could, and humanity simply died out. Or is extremely thinly spread out and on the way to extinction.

I'd honestly expect NA to be the hardest area hit, since the Combine first came though in New Mexico.

99,999 days is 273 years and 286 days, so it's at least that long since Portal 1. We know that Portal 1 happened between Half Life and Half Life 2, since GLaDOS went online the day before the Black Mesa Incident, and makes a reference to the invasion going on top-side. Therefore, Portal 2 happens much later than the events of Half Life 2.
It's also canon that Aperture Science Research Facility is in Ohio.

So, I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or not, because both your statements are in correlation with mine, but you used the conjunction "but".

GLaDOS said she saw some humans on the surface, though she has a habit of "enhancing the truth", she might not be lying for once.

I predict that Valve will release some new information on Half Life 3 by next years' E3. This is pure speculation on my part based on the fact that Valve doesn't have any new releases coming up, so they will either reveal Half Life 3 or a new IP.

Where did you get Ohio from? In one of the trophy display cases when the founder/CEO is talking to you, you can see that it says he purchased a large salt mine in Upper Michigan I believe? Not 100% about upper but I remember it saying Michigan for sure. Not that it really makes a difference.

The bit with the moon seemed kinda over the top unless you where paying attention, because they actually foreshadow this. Cave Johnson says that conversion gel is made of ground up moon rocks, and that they're a great conductor of portals. Also the actual projectile launched from the portal gun now moves instantaneously, so it would actually reach the moon in a matter of seconds.

Moving on, the bit with the turrets was nothing short of beautiful. I like how they let Ellen McLain actually sing opera, since she IS an opera singer. Also, major WTF moment with the giant leopard spotted animal king turret in the background, didn't expect to see that.

And the end song is amazing, that is all.
