I am stuck here. I can't honestly decide whether or not to part with 60 dollars for Portal 2. I FRIGGEN LOVED the Original Portal and am getting quite excited in the pants when I think of the videos I have seen on the portal website (link here - http://www.thinkwithportals.com/media.php)
So what do you think?

Portal 2 is only $45 on the PC, though you'd need a fairly good computer to run it.

$60 though? I dunno, that's a tough call. Depends on how much disposable income you have.

From what I can tell, they've added a lot to the base formula that could easily make it better than the first. The engine is also getting a pretty significant update, which is always nice.

On the other hand, nothing we say should be considered definitive. In the end it's up to you. I've already done my pre-order.

It's supposed to be twice as long as the original.
So $60 for 4 hours of (I'm hoping) genius? Even if it's brilliant that may be too short.

It looks like it will be worth the money, but if you're worried, why not wait a couple months until Valve puts it on an amazing Steam sale? Or if you're a console player, just rent it.

I would have to say on PC it is cheaper and they even had bundles as well if you buy via steam... So I would say it's worth it :p, I've pre ordered already. LOL.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!

Ok now that that's out of the way let me explain:

The comedy from the previews look made laugh hysterically which will be very fun with friends. They also have been saying that the single player is like 3 times as long as portal 1 and the co-op is about 2 times as long as the original portal.

From what I've heard and seen it seems like it'll be much longer than that. Not to mention the co-op mode which will probably double the total play time. I'd say it's worth the money, but I'm getting it on PC, so it's a better buy regardless.

Wait for it to come with a free shirt.
It had better say "The Cake Is a Lie"
The shirt is a lie, the cake wasn't
But without the message of the cake, how will people know its a lie.... the world outside of portal players and remotely attached on-lookers have to be informed.... or soon they themselves will be running through mazes of increasing difficulty... cept they would be laughing at all the dark, sick, twisted things Glados would say.

Yes.

Or at least for me it will be. But I'm rich so I dunno about you.

If you only get one game this year though, get portal 2.

The game isn't out for another 2 weeks. How do you actually expect anyone to give you an honest answer to that question? We can't form an accurate opinion of what it's worth because we haven't played it.

The only thing I can tell you is that paying $60 is foolish. If you have a PC that is fit for gaming, you can get it on Steam for just $45. If you want it on console, go pre-order on Amazon.com. They have the 360 and PS3 versions at $55 instead of $60, and they're giving you a $20 credit to use on a future game purchase you make from them.

So only from the perspective of getting a good deal, no, you shouldn't pay $60. But whether or not the game is worth buying on the basis of it being a good and/or lengthy game... Again, it's not out, nobody can accurately give an opinion on that yet.

Also remember that there is also modding for the PC version. That also adds some value to the game. The original Portal has a few outstanding mods/map packs which adds a great deal of content as well as gameplay mechanics.

Portal 2 will see an SDK released for it which will enable modders to create some very interesting things with the addition of Portal 2's extra mechanics. With how innovative modders have already been with Portal 1, we are in for a treat.
