Metacritic is a bunch of over-entitled clowns who are angry that the game doesn't include the development staff's indentured servitude.
Its not even what I'd consider DLC. DLC is a sizable chunk of actual game content - not big enough to be an expansion pack (The Shivering Isles), but still actual, playable content.Frotality said:is portal 2 really the breaking point? thats what i dont understand...current DLC trends are utter bullshit, but portal 2 is a finished, great game, by a developer that has to fund themselves and is essentially indie.
we REALLY couldve picked a better target...DA2 and its ridiculous amounts of promotional DLC? dante's inferno selling us bloody level up points?
portal 2? really?!
Botched DRM? If you mean Steam crapping out at launch, then I say "This is no surprise since Steam has done this with every single Valve game ever."Sgt. Sykes said:And what about the botched DRM? What would you rate a game which you can't play because the copy protection system prohibits you to play?
It uses Steam, which is DRM. It is "better" DRM compared to most, but still DRM.Dense_Electric said:There was DRM in Portal 2?

These guys are just trolling for some fucking character skins that make no difference whatsoever. Mind you, they also claim the game is 4 hours long (... its not), that its a console port (... nope), and that it didn't get released early (... which it did).
Ah, gotcha. See, that's the best kind of DRM - the kind you don't even know is there.Irridium said:It uses Steam, which is DRM. It is "better" DRM compared to most, but still DRM.Dense_Electric said:There was DRM in Portal 2?

Simple really.
Irridium said:2: [HEADING=3]Portal 2's online store is a rip-off![/HEADING]
The store sells hats, skins, and gestures. Hats, skins, and gestures. These things are purely cosmetic and do nothing to effect gameplay in any fucking way. They don't add anything, they don't change anything, they do nothing but make your bots look different.
In short, they're just some fucking hats and skins and gestures. If the lack of a hat made Portal 2 worse for you, you really need to back up and rethink your priorities.
You've got to be trolling? Valve's revenue is over $1 billion a year mostly from Steam. To call them indie is about as laughable as calling Nintendo indie. The problem is Valve are the most over-rated developer by far. They've not released one great game, they release shallow linear games with interesting gameplay gimmicks and one dimensional characters. So when Portal 2 comes out and it's easier than the first game and only 6 hours long, and has no depth, and day 1 dlc, and seems really cheaply developed, that it's getting reviewed equal to red dead redemption and mass effect 2 is incredibly insulting to those developers who actually put effort in and have ambition for games to be beyond puerile toys.great game, by a developer that has to fund themselves and is essentially indie.
