Portal 2 Protest: Gamers (sorta?) Pan Portal 2 On Metacritic

People whining about not being able to look through multiple portals, the game saying "don't turn off the console" when they save from the pause menu (side note: who does that anyway? Quicksave button is there for a reason), and paying for DLC that is only cosmetic and doesn't change the game in anyway are people who should be disregarded as far as I'm concerned. Let them cry all they want, I'm going to go play Portal 2 and have a shitload of fun.

VALVe is a business and needs to make money. Optional DLC warrants them a bit more money, Dragon Age 2 had optional DLC as well, but I hate that game because it's boring.

Metacritic is a bunch of over-entitled clowns who are angry that the game doesn't include the development staff's indentured servitude.

If you pay for something, you have the right to complain about it and suggest things be done differently.

I'd be more angry that it didn't include HL2:Episode 3. Known in two months as the new Duke Nukem Forever.

I've seen both the campaign and coop (watched my friend play, as of now I don't have enough money to get the game myself) I don't see any real value to these "complaints"

most of them seem sketchy at best, and downright idiotic at worst.

Is it worth it to even pay attention to user reviews anymore? Both DA2 and Portal 2 have been flamed on every review site imaginable, but I loved both of them. Even something like Yahtzee's dislike of Bioshock 2 amounts to nothing but one user's preference. Sure it didn't have as good of a story as the first, and sure it wasn't as original, but it was still pretty fun. Its probably better just to play the game for yourself and judge it accordingly, and not let some random person who hates the game for a random reason spoil your fun.

As for all of the people complaining about game length, have they ever played Modern Warfare 2 or Star Wars Force Unleashed 2?

So? I never see anyone oppose the Activision hate when they release a new COD or a map pack. It's not like anyone gives a flying fuck about metacritic ratings anyway.

based on the metacritic score I knew this game would suck... soooo glad I did not purchase it. 4 hours for a full priced game? Even COD doesn't have the balls to do that!... all jokes aside, listening to users (fans and haters alike) really has no bearing on whether I purchase a game. Impulse and the desire for something new to play(I like games, I beat them, I discard them) is what drives my spending habits.

This is just silly, portal 2 looks great so far. It seems that people will do anything to bash AAA games, but indiegames are a no go. Now that portal has crossed the line, there's no going back .

Take no notice of scores. Boy if I listened to scores I wouldn't have played half the games I love.

That said, I do question whether it's worth £30(PC)/£40(PS3/360). If only because it is on the short side, no denying that. I mean sure it's an epic short amount of time, but still, as a person who generally plays games which last a good 20+ hours, it is somewhat disappointing.

A game getting only tens and zeros from reviewers? Yeah, that's a sign of hilariously (but infuriatingly) petty trolling.

In response to the actual criticisms: Portal 2 looks/runs great on PC, the DLC is just a bunch of skins you can easily avoid (as I do), I'm very sorry Portal 2 wasn't released as early as you wanted it to be, and it took me a good eight hours to beat it with another eight-or-so hours of co-op.

Portal 2 is also my personal favorite game of all time.

I don't know where these "Portal is 4 hours" comments keep coming from.

I beat Portal 2 while rarely getting stuck at any point and the game lasted 6 hours for me and there's still a coop campaign.

Btw Portal 2 is an excellent game, and I am willing to spend the money soley for the co-op option and I am really hoping they release more maps, which I will spend money on! Let alone a fantastic single player
