Portal 2: What do we think?

Okay so for anyone observant, during E3 they announced that Portal 2, sequel to the successful Portal (obviously), will be released on PS3. Anyone who hasn't noticed, search on youtube, there's some videos on it inlcuding gameplay.

What are we all thinking? I personally think it looks fantastic and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I think PC platform would suit it better overall but having it on PS3 isn't a bad thing either.

I think it will be possibly one of the best games in the universe.

If it's on PS3, awesome. I won't buy it, but Valve will get more moeny to spend on their other games and new IPs.

I love wheatley, I hope they keep the actor for his voice, he seems like a lot of fun

it looks like it should be fantastic and if Portal 1 is anything to go by it should be what everyone thinks it will be.

it is a valve game and they have a good idea of how to make a game shiney and fun

plus they actually make a deadline these days

I was really not expecting anything of portal 2 especially plot wise. But it all looks amazing.

It looks flawless so far. More brilliant characters, varied environments, awesome new mechanics, full length and they upped the difficulty!

I'm not judging it entirely from what we've seen so far but my expectations are pretty high.

I'm excited for it. The environments look great, the rooms look challenging and there might even be less cake jokes. I'm ready for it's arrival.

As long as it's coming to Xbox as well I'm happy. I'm glad that it is coming to PS3 as well though becuase there won't be so much moaning about it anymore. It looks fantastic.

They do? I thought that Portal 2 was going to released thes year in about November but they pushed it back to 2011. Or am I completely missreading your post.

Portal 2 looks a million times more complicated than portal 1 and a lot longer, which includes a deeper story IE: more than 2 characters and more than 1 that talks. It can only be better.

Maybe after this I can finally get concept art for hl2 ep3. It will be at least until portal 5 till We get a trailer at this point.

They've announced it will have Steamworks integration. I would love it if, like their PC/Mac Steam services, you can buy it for the PS3, and then play it on PC/Mac...

Maybe I'm just dreaming, though.

It still looks awesome... And I'm probably going to have to get it for both platforms, because I've friends who play on both platforms, and want to co-op it.

As far as I know it was set for sometime in 2011.

I think it looks beautiful, the gameplay looks amazing and this will hopefully apply to the story too. I'm looking forward to how they intertwine the Half Life universe in with Portal 2. Apparently Chell is very important to the Half Life world...

Well for starters they're cramming way too many concepts into the game and it seems like it could get very schizophrenic for newer players. (holy shit I spelled schizophrenic right)

Secondly, no Valve, you're not going to release it 2011. I can't see that happening.

Third I'm still going to buy it.

Fourth, what the hell happened to Episode 3 and how long do you(valve) plan on delaying it?

Pure speculation, maybe there isn't an episode 3. I mean they've mashed the first two episodes together. Though I've not played the game yet so My view just became invalid ._.

It will sell more then the Orange Box. People will become pissed about (insert part of game here) of the the game. People will say it goes too far away from the source. Overall people will have a negative reaction to it because of their cult devotion to the original.

The remaining 98% of people who buy it will enjoy it immensely and laugh/get angry at group 1.

true Valve is still pretty bad, but everytime someone complains about valve pushing something back I think about how bad they used to be.

When I say they cna make a deadline they don't promise a game is going to come out soon and push it back 6+ times, they are actually pretty good, if you waited on valve years ago you knew that if they promised something it wasn't going to happen for a very very long time. They really turned around after HL2 came out, they managed to get relatively close with HL2 and then they started doing things on time, more or less.

Trust me valve pushing something back once or twice is very good for them, and very common for most game devs for a final coat of polish, something I'm not opposed to in the least as long as they make good on it

From what it looks like it appears to be a full game so there's chance for a more deep story and more quirky dark humor and of course more awesome puzzles. I'm just hoping the replay value is a lot stronger than before, because as much as I loved Portal you have to admit once you know how to solve each puzzle, you can pretty much beat it in half the time.

Still, this game is certainly looking interesting and is next to Halo: Reach, New Vegas, Dead Space 2 and the distant Mass Effect 3 as games I am seriously excited for.
