Act now it's only for the next few days. I've started my download, I don't have the game and have wanted to play it for, well, since before it came out. Now I can for free! Okay, now just give me Half-Life 2 and it's episodes and I'll have gotten the whole Orange Box for free...

While my thread is still relevant, anybody know how well Portal works with a touchpad?
About as well as any other FPS -- which is to say, terribly, but there are people who have successfully put up with it. You can get a USB mouse for as low as $10, though, so if you actually don't have a mouse, it's worth getting something basic.

Strangely enough, using a touch-pad in Portal works surprisingly well.

OT: It's free? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

I've tried it, and personally I think it's a bit difficult. Get a PC mouse if you can! :) (I use an iMac now, but the Mac mouses aren't 'clickable' enough, if you get me)

Well, one person seems to think a touchpad works okay. I ask because I mostly use my laptop in my bed and I don't have any extra mice that work right (My laser mouse screwed up and the other one is for the desktop). I suppose I can play it when no one is using the desktop...

Is this a regional thing? Or is there a time zone barrier? I just went on Steam, and for me the game's tagged as '?18.99'.

Thanks for the info, grabbin this gem right away.

Also, as for the touchpad question, well, not to sound uneducated, but don't you need a two button mouse?

@sonicron, get it through here [http://www.learnwithportals.com/] by clicking the link in the top-right corner.

Just go to the shop page of Portal, there it says that it's free. I guess they forgot to remove the price from there.

Doesn't appear to be free for me?
I guess it's the same case with you. Just go here [http://store.steampowered.com/app/400/].

There are people who don't have Portal yet? What is this madness?
I have it, but only on my X360. Still fun, but playing the game with a controller was kind of a pain, so of course I'm jumping at the chance to get this free for PC.

-EDIT-
Thanks to those of you who directed me to the Free Download link - it's installing now. :)

Well, there are two buttons right under the touchpad just like on a mouse. I'm pretty sure most laptops are like that, it's not an exclusive feature on my Toshiba Satellite...

My Macbook Pro has the touchpad itself as a button and senses whether I'm pressing with one or two fingers for left and right-click, respectively. It's a pretty nice system except for when I need to press both buttons at the same time.

Is this free to keep like last time, or just free to play for the weekend?

Either way if anyone hasn't already played it they so definitely should. It's perhaps the best made game I've ever played.
