The extra challenges are WAAAAAY too hard without a walkthrough.

The game was good, but with no replay value, it's fun, but the endless quoting gets old and the way over-rated song at the end is funny, but there's better funny music out there.

Portal, best game ever, until its done. Then it becomes a terrible pop culture phenomenon.

I thought it was good, but doesn't really have much replay value as once you solve all the puzzles, it poses little to no challenge every time afterward.

Alright, there you go. I enjoyed Portal, I suppose puzzle games just aren't for everyone. If you don't mind me asking, what didn't you like about it?

But i did not like the puzzles they were wayyyy to easy beat the game in one sitting
sooo yea too short, to easy, bad story (only bringing this up because the OP did),
and on a sumwhat realated note The fans have butchard anything i thought was funny about it

No offence, but this was a very mediocre review. You didn't talk in any depth about gameplay, story, graphics, sound... anything, really. Two paragraphs of gushing praise does not a review make.

The timed buttons were a good point, because it forces you to rush a delicate puzzle that needs to be percious.

I think the word you're looking for is "precise".

The beauty of portal was it gave you an ever expanding set of puzzles and challenges to face. And it was short enough not to overstay it's welcome. The problem with a Portal 2 is by the time we finished Portal we don't really want the same thing all over again. (IE. running the game concept into the ground) Its going to flop unless Valve can put us in a different enough environment while keeping the feel of the original game. That being said what is the use of portals with out the spunky computer goading you on, or the luring promises of cake.


PS. if they change the game environments to much the fan boys will start to whine. And we all don't want that.

Also, yes. They've said something about it, I believe on of the commentary nodes made a slipup and indicated that there was going to be another portal. The question is, how does it tie into HL2ep3?

Also, if you're looking for a game to play in the meantime, you could go further wrong than Portal Prelude.

I was talking with someone the other day who's never played Portal and doesn't know crap about video games anyways and one of my friends who has played that I regularly play video games with was with me. Anyways the girl who doesn't have any video game knowledge goes and says something about cake and how we should have some. I immediately jump up(cause we were all sitting down)point accusingly at her and shout "THE CAKE IS A GODDAMNED LIE!!!!!!!" The poor girl was so confused we had to explain it to her. In between him and I cracking up over the fact that I did that. Anyways I need to finish Portal. I don't remember how far exactly I got but I know about the cake.......I love puzzle games. So much fun

Is it just rumors that they are going to make Portal 2, or is it for real?

Hmm I hope they do, I don't know whether it would work, but I had an idea, make portal, but combat orientated (well at least a bit, you have to have puzzles too to make it a portal game) of course you'd have to have it so that you can't pick up weapons, but I think you could do a hell of a lot with it.

Such as -
Have the enemies get disorientated if they're put into a loop.
Have some enemies that have the portal gun too (though this might be pretty hard to do ai wise).

Can't think of anymore right now, but if they brought out something like that, I'd play it.
