I suppose it would be people going out of their way to prove their individuality. Like when emos claim the world's against them for being different.
I totally agree with this ^

Simple - Posers are people who pass themselves off as something they are not.

Lets say James can play guitar, but he has only been playing for two weeks and can only play a few starter songs his teacher taught him. So later, to impress people he wants to make friends with he passes himself off as a guitarist. James is a poser. Eventually he might play decent guitar with practice but not at this point.

Or lets say Judy thinks a group of girls are pretty cool cause they are rich, just like she wants to be. She saves up her money and buys expensive clothes and copies everything she sees these girls do. Then she presents herself to make friends with them as being like them. Judy is a poser. Eventually she may be rich and fit in but not at this point.

It isn't really specific, a poser is merely someone who cannot live up to the image they project.

Oh and for the record: Trivium's Ascendancy album is fantastic. Can't say about the others. But if you don't think Trivium is metal, then you haven't listened to that album. (Ignore Dieng in your arms, that song is just...out of place).

A poser is someone who poses as if they are in a social group or other such thing so as to further their own agenda. A skilled poser shall probably never been detected, actually.
It's the unskilled ones that are mocked and portrayed in low-grade television shows.

People who try to be what they aren't to be cool. Like someone who is a vegetarian just so they can be liked by other vegetarians or ***** about how they are better then everyone else because they don't eat meat.

hmmm... A Poser is someone with a completely different attitude, style, and personality trying to be something on the far other side of the spectrum.

Let's use some examples.Remember, this is just my opinion.

Jeff is a nice kid. He likes some classic rock, he's got a short hair cut, very pale, and generally nice to people. Then one day, Jeff is talking to friends, and he keeps on calling everyone Dog. Now to Jeff, Jeff is the mac daddy pimp whatever you want Jeff to think of himself. BUT, To everyone else, Jeff is fucking annoying at this point. Very very very annoying. Jeff changes nearly NOTHING about him to make him more "Gangsta" but yet, he talks like he's fixing to cap someone. I mean, this was Jeff, the nice kid from the block. Now he wants to be a Baller? Everyone is soon disgusted with Jeff's actions and call him a poser. Now Jeff is an outcast. But hey, Jeff's cool! Jeff's mom says he's cool.....
Is your name Jeff by any chance?

Does wearing the same clothes, listening to the same music, going to the same shitty websites- *COUGH FACEBOOK COUGH* -as everybody else count as being a poser? If so, the world is full of them. And another reason I hate college.

Seriously people, be yourself for god's sake...
But what if that is yourself? What if yourself does all those things weather or not other people do them?

I think the whole 'poser' thing uses an odd circular logic.
